The best teams in each conference end up facing *each other* in *ROUND ****ING 2* every year. It's been that way since they changed the alignment.

They need to bring back 1-8 2-7 seeding, or at the very least, start with divisional brackets and then re-seed teams based on regular season points.

Yeah I am not a big fan of this seeding. The 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, and 4-5 was the way to go. Then re-seed for the 2nd round.

Well in this case, the East semi match ups played out the way that they would have otherwise.

Boston is the highest seed left, CBJ the lowest. Isles are on the verge of blowing a cakewalk trip to the ECF though which makes me feel all kinds of warm and fuzzies.

I'm still holding out hope that with Seattle's addition, the league does away with wildcards and re-works the playoff format to 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5, with re-seeding in the second round.

I understand why it works better in football to have division rivals facing off: with a single game, there isn't a lot of time to grow a hatred for a team that you aren't that familiar with.

That isn't a problem in a best-of-seven series in a sport where guys can mix it up after the whistle as much as hockey players do. Any two teams are going to hate each other very quickly, so we may as well do the seeding in the most fair way possible.
