Devils lose 16th consecutive shootout.

You'd think you could fluke your way to at least one shootout win.

Just like what Dave said about the Rangers power play under Tortorella. It wasn't the power play per se. It was the brain dead hockey that killed the creativity and thinking on the ice. The Boar's system does that except much worse.

The Devils shootouts losses are actually a statistical anomaly that almost any stat you can bring up in sports. Shootouts are a crapshoot, essentially. Flip a coin. Tell me the first time you get 16 heads/tails in a row. Might be a while.

If they win half they are in the playoffs. They must be annoyed

I find it amazing that we almost swept the 111 point (at least) Avs, winning one game 5-1 and almost winning another game without McDonagh.

It's amazing how predictive goal differential is - with the exception of Washington (-8) to Detroit's (-11) every team in the playoffs has a better overall goal differential than teams who didn't make it.

CLB playing their back up against the Lightning today. Looks like they want to avoid us.

They want to avoid us in order to play the Bruins/Penguins?...

Tampa just lost their starter and hasn't been so hot recently.

Recently signed Columbus goalie Connor Hellebuyck awarded with the Mike Richter award, finished his college career with as many shutouts as he had losses.

A team trying to move up the ranks is going to play their back up, who is a lot worse than the reigning Vezina winner... to do what?

Playoffs are about playing to your advantages. Explain how this move makes any sense other than in the context of trying to land the Penguins in the first round.

Um, give Bob some rest against a struggling team?

Have the Rangers ever done that when they haven't solidified seeding?

Hank played like 21 games to end the season one year just so we could get a better seed.

You get whatever advantage you can get. This move doesnt make sense unless they had already locked into a seed and wanted to give him rest then. Otherwise, you take whatever advantage you can get.

You don't just play a back up in this scenario.
