What are the odds of the Bruins facing the blue jackets in the first round? I want them to face the jackets and then flyers if possible (not sure if it can work under this system). I want them to get physically beaten before we possibly meet them in the ECF.

The report indicates team doctors were surprised how well he was walking on Tuesday but there is no timetable on his return, although he will probably miss rest of the current road trip. Head coach Dave Tippett said Smith is listed as day-to-day with a lower body injury.

From what I understand, it's bracket style. So if the B's end up playing the Blue Jackets, the Blue Jackets have to be in that matchup as the wild card. The B's remain in the "Atlantic bracket" if they win, but so do the Blue Jackets if they upset the Bruins. There is no reseeding.

Therefore, the Bruins and Flyers (assuming PHI is not a wild card team) can not meet until the Conference Finals.

Not sure if I'm right there though.

Best case scenario then is for them to face the blue jackets and then montreal. Heh, montreal might be even worse for them than the Flyers.

Ugh, detroit would be my least favorite match up. Pens will struggle against them.

That is my understanding as well.

As of right now the Bruins most likely first round opponents would be:

Detroit - 21.7%
Columbus - 20.6%
Toronto - 19.4%
Washington - 15.7%

So their opponent is kind of up in the air. I guess that kind of sucks for the 1 seeds, they'll likely get whichever team gets hot enough to grab that wildcard spot and they won't know who it is until likely the last day. As opposed to the 2 and 3 seeds, who have a good idea of who they will play. For example, Montreal vs. Tampa Bay is a first round matchup with a likelihood of 90%, Chicago and Colorado at 98%, Rangers and Flyers at 72%.
