The New York Rangers have been eliminated from last overall contentions.

Man, that Hayes trade looks even better now especially if Winnipeg loses in Round 1.

The key is is Winnipeg not winning the division. If they lose the division, and then don't make it to the WCF, we'll have a pick around 21 or so.

Wow that’s huge now we need the preds to get their **** together.

St. Louis is right there. Beat us tomorrow and they are 2 points back with same number of games played, though Winnipeg holds the tiebreaker over both Nashville and St. Louis.

damn what is going on with san jose? They are playing horrible at a very bad time. Please stay away from EK. They don't even know when he's slated to return now.

Yeah the tie breaker situation isn't great and also seems like the Jets schedule may be a tad easier than the Preds schedule. You're right tho with a win tomorrow and against the debbies the last 4 games for st. louis doesn't look terrible.

Dallas/Edmonton going to overtime.
I guess that game really doesn't matter to us much. Dallas looks cemented into the WC1 and slated to play the Jets/Preds/Blues and the Oilers have passed us by for good

Why not root for LA? Maybe they can catch us and Rangers will have less ROW. Vancouver has 74 points now.
LA in OT sounds like the best option.

I was looking at Brandon Dubinsky's stats. Wow, the tires have really fallen off. Tortorella must be his kryptonite. He's another in a growing list of players to sharply decline in their early 30's. Good food for thought when we're looking at free agency / contract extensions.

It's fascinating how pessimistic this fanbase can be about the team itself, yet so optimistic about its draft/loser prospects.

This is easy for me, a true re-build is exciting uncharted territory for me as a fan. To see if they successfully draft and develop all these picks into a contending team is something I put rather see them what the Rangers have done post-1994. The Dark Ages was constant disappointment of the quick fix of hodgepodge of aging veterans, bad bottom end forwards and D, and mediocre prospects that was not good enough to make the playoffs. But, not good enough to get a Top 5 draft pick.

The Lundqvist Era essentially, a lot better but still the basic problem, just instead with solid mix of good prospects that were solid and good, but not good enough to consistently contend for a Cup as well as veterans that are either aging or were stars, but not elite of the elite. The disappointment was hoping they could win the Cup, but knowing it wasn’t going to happen because scoring and depth was always a huge issue for those teams.

So, finally building a team but the ground up if successful might be the best way to do this imo. I’m sick and tired of the FA acquisition or the trade for a star, but not superstar player. Superstars aren’t traded for or going to FA unless it’s very unique or bad circumstances. So, I rather try to draft one or two superstars with some very good players as well to fill out a contending roster in a few years.
