We now have as many shootout wins as the...

New York Rangers!

;)

I mean, we're dropping like flies over here but can't really bash us for winning 2 shootouts when you've won just as many yourselves..
That's different.

Don't ask why.

We suck as of late though... we've lost something like 9 of 11 now, or some absurd number (9 of 12).

Hopefully we can swing things around, would love to see that last game in the season be relevant for both teams seeding wise.

First win over a team above .500 for Devils in a month.

That's the worst part of this slump.. we haven't really played that many good teams even and still haven't been able to win.

Islanders
Ottawa
Washington x2
Winnipeg x3
Buffalo x2
Toronto
Tampa Bay
Carolina

That's 8 of 12 games against teams outside of the top-8. We can't beat the lousy teams, which is a pretty big problem.

Didn't the Panthers have an obscene amount of OTL's last year? ****, lol.

Was curious about the Rangers in regards to this stat (the last few games outside of Ottawa weren't the best opponents.. same opponents we've played and haven't gotten a win, so not like I'm deriding a 4 game winning streak because I'd love one of those :p)

Feb 12 against Boston was last win against a team >.500 ? Of course, this is using current standings so accuracy may be off a bit.

We've actually played a bunch of common opponents this past month. Distressing because both teams have had a relatively easy February and though the Rangers have faired much better, didn't come out of it as they should. At least the Rangers have injuries to blame..

How many did the Devils have last year? For some reason, I'm thinking of 12. Can someone correct me if that's wrong?

Yea we were 12-4 IIRC. If you take out the shootout, the playoff standings don't shift at all though. They finished 10 ahead of the Capitals with 8 more SO wins.

Something like 18. Not sure, but I don't think they make the playoffs without the loser point.

They'd still be the 7th seed instead of the 6th, I believe.

Devils finished with 102 points.. take out 12 SO wins and you get 90 points.
Washington finished with 92 points.. take out 4 SO wins and you get 88 points.
Ottawa finished with 92 points.. take out 6 SO wins and you get 86 points.

Even if you were to knock the Panthers down as well from 94 - 6 SO wins to 88.. Washington would take the division but the Panthers would still have less points than the Devils.

It's not a loser point. It's a tie point. You don't get a point for losing. You get a point for being tied after regulation. Although I agree that it should leave the game. IMO, a 3 PT regulation win would be the best idea, but the league likes "parity," AKA more meaningful games late in the season and closer playoff races.
