Well, Semin did play very well in his contract year. So as all GM's do, they reward that one good year with an albatross contract.

Good job, Carolina. This is the same team that gave Skinner a 6 year, $34,350,000 contract coming off his ELC. Though that seems to be the norm now. Pay players what you think they're going to be worth, rather than on what they've proven.
