Islanders up 2-0 over the Coyotes after period 1 and the Rangers couldnt even score 2 in the whole game vs the Coyotes
Not gonna say he is healthy scratch caliber, but he's not exactly lighting the world on fire.
The islanders are playing at home....Phoenix came like 2000 miles to play them.
The Rangers bopped around the country like a circus, went to play Phoenix without two top 6 players and it was their home opener.
If you can't understand the difference between a first period in phoenix and a first period with them visiting the island, then no one can help you see the light.
Larsson, like most swedes, thinks the game at an elite level. Otherwise nothing stands out about him, and he doesn't have a shred of killer instinct.
I think he's pretty much a guarantee to be a solid middle pairing guy. But playing in the SEL at a young age prompted some uninformed posters here to pump his tires. I was never of the belief he'd be anything to write home about.
So Urbom waived, Larsson scratches, who is next? God their fanbase is special.

Larsson = Sami Salo. He'll be fine and be a good player for a long time. Although it's absolutely hilarious to see Devils fans moaning and crying about how he is being treated.
And of course Mike Smith is a ****ing sieve tonight.

Sami Salo without a 105 mph slapshot is a different player. Still solid (like I said) but not nearly as valuable.
Rangers players usually make all goalies look like they will be in the hall of fame
an ECHL goalie shutting out the Rangers.. remember that game. i think it was vs the Senators.

Larsson was supposed to have a pretty good point shot and I remember watching scouting videos during his draft year which seemed to prove that. I haven't seen that thus far in the NHL, however.
Like the rest of his game his shot is smart and good for tipping and rebounds. I don't see it ever being a weapon like Sami Salo's though.
The kid was the fourth pick in the draft. His lofty projection extended far beyond a few posters on this site. He was the top-ranked European in both the midterm and final CSS rankings, and the Lindstrom comparisons were parroted by pundits and scouts alike.

I still think he has top pairing potential. Big, mobile, tough, strong with a good shot. I think he could be A bit more mobile Luke Schenn with a better shot. That's still a very valuable player.

4 minute PP for the Panthers. Rosehill took a roughing minor, than on his way to the box went across the ice to grab Kopecky as he was tangled with Rinaldo. He gets a 10 as well. Dumb players...

The Devils absolutelt butchered Larsson. You can tell he was a special player --- possible franchise player -- in his rookie season.
Look at him now. He's a mess. He cant control the puck without it breaking into a million pieces. He's nervous, he's careless and doesnt even sniff contact.
But, he'll develop into something. Worthy of a 4th overall? probably not.
Tedenby, Josefsen and Larsson -- three Swedes picked in the 1st round by the Devils in 4 years and they've gotten dick from them. I'm shocked all three even bother sticking with the organization.

Larsson should have played in the AHL for at least a year getting big minutes. The Leafs made the same mistake with Schenn. These big dmen need time to develop no matter how good they look when they are young. Unless they will be consistently in the top 4, demote.

Filpulla looks like crap. Although he is playing with no one, that was a hell of a contract for another forward when the Lightning need so much help on defense.
Seth Jones is SO impressive. My God can he skate for a big kid. Unbelievable. Yet another 4th overall pick, speaking of Larsson.
I missed it but Backstrom (Wild) left the game with an injury. Apparently was run into.

Watch for Buffalo in a couple of years. Pysyk. Ristoleinen. Foligno. Hodgson. Girgensons. Grigorenko. Ennis. Myers. And they will most likely get another good pick this year plus any picks they will add when they sell on Vanek.

My God, what the hell happened to Tyler Myers? He just looked like a complete doofus on the OT winner for TB. Useless. For a guy with his reach, he is awful at using it. He looks like he has an awful Hockey IQ at this point. Sad really, I thought he had a bright future.
