Year in Review: Audy-Marchessault had yet another great AHL season, finishing top 10 in league scoring for the second straight year, as well as getting a small cup of tea in the NHL.

The Good: Audy-Marchessault has all the offensive tools. He is a quick skater with good top speed. He is very skilled, bringing energy and a high pace, and makes a lot of plays with the puck. He has above-average all-around hockey sense. A former Rangers prospect, Audy-Marchessault is hard working; he battles for loose pucks, and he can kill penalties effectively.

The Bad: His only real issue is his size. Audy-Marchessault has some defensive value, but his value in the NHL likely has to come from offense, so the physical game question mark remains. He can be neutralized because of that weakness, sometimes enduring stretches without doing much.

Projection: He could be a second line forward.

Pronman also ranked Tim Erixon as the third-best Under-22 player in the organization.

Erixon played in all situations in the AHL, where he displayed great puck-moving skill. His NHL time was inconsistent, as he had very impressive stretches at times, but it was also evident that he still has to work on getting stronger, as well as adjusting to the NHL level of play.

Steep indeed but at 7 years, I think it'll be okay. The game Landy plays makes him rich man's Callahan and as the future of the franchise and the captain of the team, $5.57M AAV for 7 years will be fine. The contracts that are given out nowadays and with the expected hype in salary and cap, it might be over payment for 2-3 years depending on how he does or how well the Avs do but if at any point he reaches the level that he's capable of reaching (injuries and shorten season last year) with the right crew around him AND a COMPETENT coach, his contract will work out just fine. It's not exactly easy to under cut your captain, face of franchise, and all star calibre player.

It isn't exactly Sherman's MO to skip the 2nd contract, so you can understand something like this for their captain. He signed Duchene to a bridge deal and then forced O'Reilly into a holdout. And hey, Landeskog got less than Stastny, so Sherman is learning from his mistakes.

Looking at the west. Is Vancouver making the playoffs?

Realignment put them in a much tougher division with the California teams. Vancouver had a layup every year for the division with Minnesota,Edmonton,Calgary and Colorado.

I personally think Montreal or Toronto would be great places to go to as players, but its kind of supriseing that when everything is said and done, nobody goes there.

I recon Malkin could force a trade to just about any place (a shortlist) he decides for, if he wants it.

Hells no! Both cities are completely hockey crazy. You are watched and filmed (nowadays) 24/7 in those two cities. You can't fart without the whole city knowing about it. A lot of players wilt badly under that kind of pressure cooker.

what a great game this was........ it was great to see Ray Bourque finally get his name on the cup.. they had a good mix of vets and some youth.

i miss Bill Clement's voice during nationally televised games.


Chris Drury and Milan Hejduk was only 24... they also had players like Deadmarsh, Poedin, Nieminen, De Vries.

But they could have waited until he's an RFA and still get him for less. What do you think he will have to do to be worth that much by the end of this upcoming season?

SJ finished 6th in the West last season and 7th the season before, what have they done to improve so much that they would be a favorite to win the division???

They also will get a significant contribution from their blue-line with Edler, Hamhuis and Garrison back there who all have good shots. I think they will be fine.
