It's a disgrace frankly. They might end up getting Hughes which would be a joke.
The crime is how they ruined players. Hall blossomed when he got out of there... with less skilled players. RNG was treated and paid like a star, was he held back in the long run?

Just wasted so many careers.

For Hall, I'm not sure how playing with another first overall pick equates to less skilled? Nico has all the talent in the world, he's just a teenager.

Overall the NJD team is less skilled. But maybe my thinking wasn't articulated. Edmonton is doing something wrong where guys fall way short of their potential. One year in NJ and Hall was the guy he was always supposed to be. RNH fell short. Nurse is meh. Draisaitl is ok when he's not with McD, but nothing great. Yakupov was just a bad pick, and I wouldn't put his failure on just Edmonton. But that's a lot of people that were hyped and with huge expectations. One or two and you blame the player or the evaluations. But a whole host of guys?

I think they put way too much on their anointed saviors, rush them. I think their infrastructure is a mess. I think they put people in spots they were acquired for, not what they are capable of. It's to justify the move because jobs are precarious. It's a bad culture.

Avs quietly gonna be a contender IMO

lots of talent on that team

and then they have ottawa’s first

Thomas Chabot is a stud. I know I'm gonna get killed for saying this but in a year or two they won't be missing EK much.
Kid is a can't miss number 1 d man at this point at barely 21.

But i was always told that Elias Pettersson is too skinny and that his game wouldn't translate to the NHL.... ;)

He's going to be an elite scorer in this League and he'll win Calder by a landslide.

James Mirtle has an article in The Athletic about Marner’s contract being a big problem next summer. Really?

Maybe Shanahan shouldn’t have given Tavares $11M.

Nylander wants $8M. He is unsigned right now. $2M per gap in negotiations. Michael Nylander is a tough negotiator.

Marner wants $10M-$11M.

Matthews wants $11M-$12M.

Their D is not good enough.

Good luck to them.

Even if they have to trade one of those two, the haul will be massive and they will surely be able to command a top pairing, young D.

Toronto is in really good shape. Cap issues are always overblown. As Rangers fans, we should know that.

Toronto can't keep everyone. Depth at center always wins out. Nylander or Marner are going to be dealt. Who does Toronto want to keep? Any offers for a defenseman with upside from any team around the NHL? Teams don't want to trade their young, impactful defensemen. Good luck to them, indeed.
