OT: Around the NHL: JR is about to wake up from his nap and make trades and such

The cats just trade Knight and a 1st to the Hawks for Jones.

I really wish Florida could have gotten them to do 50% retention because I just want to see Chicago screwed as badly as they can be for as long as possible. Screw them...

I'm inclined to believe that Jones turns it around in Florida, if he is relegated to being a 4-5 D I think he'll look much better as compared to being forced into a top D role on a trash team.

He'll be playing on the second pair next to Gustav Forsling or Niko Mikkola. He still has to perform, but that's a hell of a lot easier than being the main guy on a rebuilding Hawks team.

As for the trade, hard to fault Zito. They needed to replace Montour before another playoff run, and neither of the assets (Knight or the pick) were going to do that.

Im sure Panthers’ fans, all 12 of them, are happy Tkachuk got hurt in the meaningless four nations exhibition.

I'm reading he's out at least until the the playoffs. Possibly done for the whole year, including playoffs.

Every person I know who went to it had a great time.

94,751 ppl for a hockey game is awesome

Different experience for those who go in person vs a tv event.

NFL is a great TV experience, but it's terrible live. Vice versa for hockey

I'm watching the Preds/Rags game and they're lamenting the departure of Jimmy Vesey on MSG. Jeeeez...

Why does Vesey hold such lore with the Rags?

So Sullys game plan f***ed up his son in laws shoulder and got an infection from it and also took Matthew Tkachuk out for the rest of the regular season.

Lol.

Dipshit still gets zero heat

He's only 30?!
I'm happy to see Olli still being a productive player. I alway felt bad for the lad. The health issues he had to start his career was nuts out of nowhere. He got through it, was a cup champ x2, became a meme during the parade, went on to still have a long career that still continues.

Sens falling off down the stretch. Again. (Again)
Kind of. They went on a 5 game losing streak then the last 3 they're 2-1 (one regulation win).

Let's hope they're still in it so they can slightly over pay for Gryz to help their left side D and get some offense from their Defense since Kleven is hurt.

They're gonna be a top team sooner than later.
Yeah it's a matter of time for them. For a long time they wouldn't even do this. Sign players they needed and would just walk away from them or dump them all at the deadline and off season. Right now they're trying to forge an identity in Utah and stability. To do that, keeping depth players and a proper core and leadership group is important.

Arizona was always a joke, it was where teams dumped LTIR'S and bad contracts so Arizona could hoard picks and then mismange the prospects. They're a stable franchise now in Utah.

They havent been healthy most of the year. Now they are and they are playing good hockey. That team low key scares me. Their young kids are popping.
The biggest thing that hurt them was that they upgraded that defense in such a massive way and then lost Durzi and Marino and had to make moves like adding Olli and playing some of the lads.

Durzi is back and Marino returned mid January. Durzi back was huge and the stability of them adding Olli early on and also Marino in the off season...they're going to be a good team if they can stay healthy. They might even sneak into the playoffs.

I could see them adding a depth scorer at most, maybe two. Bjug fell off hard and is also sick and they need some insurance depth.
