If part of his game is taking bad penalties then he shouldn't be on the ice.

And I would not consider -5 to be "fine defensively"

Yes, because in a physical sport, where the speed of the game is beyond comprehension for most people, you are not allowed to take a penalty. Guys who play his style take penalties. Either you want a all-skill team or you will have to love with them crossing the line sometimes.

Uh, no. He was hitting and being engaged in the game like he should be. He fought a legit heavy in Thornton. He fought Campbell. He took on all in order to swing momentum. The guy is a heart and soul player who plays on the line. Honestly, what type of team would you like? Sweet and lovable?

I would like a blue collar, honest-team like last season and the year before that. Dorsett was diving a lot. Fred Murtz had the dive up on YT, but his account got deleted. It was against the Caps against Chimera.

He wasn't responsible though, he was bad defensively, and took like 3-4 penalties for stupid things.

Can't have 4th liners who take bad penalties.

Exactly.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_NHL_Entry_Draft#Round_1 we will lose our 5th to SJ (as long as we don't re-sign Clowe, or it becomes our 2nd instead) 6th to Minnesota and possible our 7th (if Mashinter is signed). We received a 5th from Florida from the Casey Wellman deal. All other picks are intact.

2014 6th to Minnesota for Falk
2014 5th to SJ for Clowe
2014 7th to SJ if Mashinter re-signs

So we're out 5-6-7 already. What are the chances we traded away our 2-3-4 by next year?

I'm fine with a guy who agitates the opposing team. I'm not fine with a guy who takes hooking, tripping, etc penalties. Those arent going to agitate a team unless he keeps getting away with it. There is absolutely no doubt he was a negative for the rangers in the playoffs.

Good news is those are lower picks and Sather usually does a good job of replacing mid to low picks.

We are running out of valued assets on the trade market so I wouldn't doubt one or two of the high '14 picks will be gone by the time of the draft.

We still have FLA 5th as someone pointed out, and we have our own 6th. The 6th we gave up was from the jackets that we received for Gaborik. So we have a pick in every round but the 7th as of right now.

Gee, a team full of "Good room guys"? That worked well.

Marchand wasn't too valuable to the Bruins this post season was he?

Nice guys finish lunch. You can't have it both ways.

Of course I'd rather have a winning time first and foremost. However, I'm not sure how that relates to Derek Dorsett.

Oh looky, Kershaw taking exception with another Rangers player. He needs to find some discipline, but it's being blown out of proportion. Not like good guy Brandon Prust didn't take dumb penalties at times.

You're gnashing your teeth and beating your breast bemoaning the "Diving, chirping ect" that Dorsett brings, apparently longing for a team of gentle fellows to skate to and fro, with nary a care, playing the game the "Right way".

Of course Cyndi Crosby doesn't fall down if your shadow touches his or anything,he'd never fall over without any actual contact would he?

Derek Dorsett had 9 minors on the team in the playoffs, the next closest player was Michael Del Zotto who had 4 minor infractions. Dorsett was 16th in total TOI for the Rangers during the playoffs. He was a liability out there with his undisciplined play. Prust was undisciplined too.

Cindy is a pretty good hockey player. Dorsett played like a weasel in the mold of a Lapierre in his short Rangers stint. I'm fine with the top guys doing it as long as they go out and help the team, Dorsett didn't do that. Hopefully it'll change.

If I was given an option to choose player 1 with the same attributes and skills as player 2, but if player 2 played like a whiny pest type, I'd take 1 for sure. No need for added drama and losing refs respect.
