Just incredible. How does the Center not try to muddle that play up? Go down to the ice.. only goal there is to not let the faceoff be won cleanly.

Awful, awful job. A goal should never be scored in that situation. Easily preventable.

Calgary has to have a fire sale. They can't score. Literally. Shutout in 5 of last 7 games.

Feaster created a fiasco. Cammaleri, Hudler, Giordano, Wideman, and Stempniak are all ghosts.

Colborne is an idiot. He always has been. Tries to pick a fight with his back turned to the puck, and it goes in the net and he's oblivious.

That 4th round pick is more valuable than he is. Bust.

Anyone remember how hyped Colborne was when he was traded?

Big centers. You know, I mean, size at center ice sounds wonderful but if you want to find a bust or a 3rd-4th lineer -- look for size at the center position. Or you might actually get a good winger with the cente pick (/up), like say a Jeff Carter...

I followed Grigerenko in the WJC's. That kid is talented. Tremendous size. So strong. Awsome hands. Good passer and shooter. Pretty smart. But its just -- almost -- mission impossible to be so complete that you can be around the puck enough to be a dominant center with size nowadays.

You gotta count with the top centers being 5'11-6'1.

How about PFs? From my point of view the equation is simple. A PF is worthless on a team that can't get up ice. The better transition game you have the more PFs you can carry. Anaheim's cup team is the perfect example. Scott Neidermayer passed the puck like a god for them, they had Andy McDonald at center who transports the puck as well as any center in the league, a younger Sami PÃ¥hlsson who moved the puck really well, Todd Marchand and a 20 y/o Getzlaf on the 4th line, at center ice. They could carry a ton of PFs. But the Dustin Penner or Ryan Malone who are great on a Anaheim team like that or Pittsburgh with Crosby, will become ineffective on a team without a transition game. Size on the wing is definitely valuble. We have had a bit of a problem here though because basically since Nyls left and Gomez went down hill, we haven't had any players really that has been good transition game players nor a transition game in terms of X and O. I think we are getting there though. I do for example think that a Real PF-Brassard-Zucc line could work really well.

Agreed, and you can question if they shouldn't have had it 2-3 years ago.

But, now, if they were to have one, those assets they have will bring in assets for sure. Even if its not 1st rounders and grade A-B prospects, they would definitely get a bit of a jump start if Wideman, Cammalleri, Hudler and co are dealt.

And if you move into Buffalo land, I think we will see that NMCs or NTCs only means that the player gets a say in where he is going and not that the players can't be moved. I know that this is more or less outspoken during negotiations. With the 35 y/o's with a family, its no-move. With the late 20's signing, its i) I won't be unprotected when everyone else is protected, and ii) I want a say in where I am going. If its like a 29-33 y/o with a NMC that is presented with a option of 3-4 more or less contenderst that are interested in him, I think most will waive their NTCs or NMCs.

I am definitely not saying that NMC's and NTC's don't have an effect. But they aren't absolute without exceptions.

Claude Noel and Perry Pearn let go by Winnipeg.

Could be Laviolette's chance to break back into the league.

The players there are next. They quit for him two seasons ago.

EDIT: it's Paul Maurice.

Any hopes anyone had of prying Kane out of WPG probably go down the drain with the Noel firing. Kane was constantly in Noel's dog house and I have a feeli he's about to be given a lot more leash.

Ray Whitney makes it 1-0 Stars lead Islanders

Sergei Gonchar makes it 2-0 Stars lead Islanders

I was at the 7-3 islanders/stars game. They trailed that one 2-0 after one also. That was a great game to be at.

I love the Stars new unis and I love Seguin and Nichuskin.
