Does anyone else think of this guy when they hear Dekeyser?

It was always Kobayashi

Stastny, Stepan, Callahan and Fowler are all no-gos for me.

I understand they are weak at center, but on defense they should have Yandle.

Someone explain to me how yandle and bobby Ryan aren't on the team but orpik is?

Meh, was looking forward to Stepan and Callahan getting snubbed. They need a reality check more than anyone.

Meh on the selections. Contrary to what most people think, I'm not too impressed with Yandle. Justin Faulk and Cam Fowler are really impressive young players.

Agree with this. Yandle is massively overrated IMO.

Orpik makes sense since bylsma is the coach. I think I butchered his name but whatever I'm pretty rattled over this team

Stepan was really never in danger of not making the team.

One interesting development is the first airing of the notion that perhaps both Oshie and Saad could go and Derek Stepan come off the list. The New York Rangers center had been a given as the management team has always wanted five centers. But Stepan has played poorly and had an uneven season overall. Now for the first time, the idea is raised that he may go to make room for both Oshie and Saad.

Still, the fear of not having enough depth down the middle if they take only four is too much to sway the group at this stage, especially given that there are no real options if there is an injury among the other forwards.

Anyone else hate the horn at the halfway mark of the 3rd and OT? I understand the sun and stuff and they want to have each team be equally in the elements. That said, I think the risk of blowing the horn on an oddman rush is bigger than the goalies spending uneven time in the sun. The game loses some integrity and credibility, when the timing is different.

The game has never had integrity or credibility. It's been my biggest problem with the Winter Classic from Day One.

It's great from a spectacle point of view, but when you realize that the game is really just another regular season game that counts in the standings, and the rules change, it destroys the integrity of the season.

Let's say Detroit misses the playoffs by one point. They may have been able to win in OT, but the game was stopped at 2:30 of OT to change sides.

Lol they think McD will be the 7th D for team usa

Honestly if McD was the 7th D man I don't think all those deliberations would have been about Fowler, JJ, and Yandle. No one ever questioned McD's election to this roster and he will no doubt be in the top-4. Any other decision would be an egregious error on the part of the coaching staff.

All-in-all, I hate Burke and Bylsma. The team is mostly likable and it's nothing worth crying over now. Time to get behind them and hope this questionable roster gets it done.

i'm on board with the goalie selections. even if he is the 3rd slot, Miller will probably play real well in front of actual defenders and his experience is a big plus.

on defense, I would have had Yandle over Fowler. I understand Bylsma's boner for Orpik but dude should be on the scratch list, not starting lineup. I would have taken Erik Johnson on the R side over Carlsson or Faulk although I understand the latter two probably have a better defensive game. McD has to be starting lineup. wtlol.

forwards, reading about the discussions, I can see why they didn't pick Ryan. Still I disagree with the statement that he isn't a top 6 player. His skating is pretty explosive too. Unless Pacman is a top shelf PKer, I still take Ryan. There's going to be a game where they are going to need him because Kessel's getting dogged all over the ice. Still, they've assembled a talented crew that is going to be VERY hard to play against.

Eh, neither of them deserved to make the team so they wouldn't have been snubbed.

I don't understand why people are making a big deal about Martin, he's a fine choice. The Orpik choice I don't like one bit.

Watching the winter classic on rerun..

Man it looked cold out there..was it minus 11 celsius during the game?

Glad I'm under a blanket drikking some warm tea...
