Absolute garbage from Ray Emery. And the refs. Should've got in there right away.

What ******** from the Flyers.

Flyers are a joke.

Capitals are a joke for not stepping in too though.
 
Come on. This is hockey. Fights happen. Holtby didn't want to fight... none of the Caps players came to stick up for him.

I'd be ashamed if I was a Rangers fan and Emery charged Hank and not one Ranger stuck up for him. Midway through Emery's skating down the ice someone should have stopped him on the Caps.

Emery is scum for continuing to punch after Holtby continuously kept falling and clearly not being much of an opponent but a big part of the blame here falls on the caps players. No protection.

It's a wonder no one from the bench jumped over. 10 game suspension is worth protecting your franchise goaltender from potentially having a serious serious injury.

If that's happening to Hank and i'm AV, i send Mashinter, Moore, Dorsett, Boyle, anyone. Get there ASAP and k.o this POS attacking our best player.
 
Downie out indefinitely with a concussion after getting socked in the face with a punch. It was reported that he left the arena on a stretcher....

Yeah, but this was a tad worse in the sense that Holtby had all his protection on and didn't want to engage at all.
 
Bad bad PR Clip for the NHL being shown everywhere..

If he gets a suspension it cause of the negative press the NHL is getting from this..

I don't like what he did but I don't think he'll be suspended..

He'll Get a heavy fine..

The next time they'll play eachother I imagine players running down emery and take shots at him..
 
I just saw the video, wow, The game was over, it was done, and Philly gooned it up. I don't know how the Flyers coach doesn't at least get fined, if not suspended. Same with Emery, that was a classless move by Emery.

That referee should absolutely be fired. He's waving off caps players who skated over, meanwhile emery is wailing on the bakc of Holtby's head. What happened to preventing concussions.

Sorry, this is pure thuggery. Inexcusable behavior by both the players (simmonds and emery) as well as the referees.

If you think this should be "part of hockey" you're an idiot.+

Yeah, it's an interesting system if you think about it.

Dubinsky jumps in to protect Boyle who is getting his face mashed into the ice while a referee stands there watching. Third-man in, game misconduct.

I mean, if there's a line brawl going on, and the linesmen are tangled up in other fights - if you're a referee standing right next to a guy getting the back of his head smashed, I think you should step in.

You want to protect players heads? You sure about that?
 
This should be the end of the gooning for Philly.

Not because they're embarrassed of trying it but because they got the **** kicked out of them in the fights. Simmonds did a nice job of tying up Wilson, but Downie got cracked open like a coconut, Urbom didn't know what the hell to do but when he figured it out he threw some haymakers at Schenn who was lucky he chickened out and kept his visor helmet on or the Flyers could have gotten a group rate at the local hospital. And of course Lecavalier got his face pounded by a non-fighter who gave up 25 pounds, didn't want to fight, but still took care of Lecavalier.

Now the 2/3 of the Flyers top line is injured from the fights, facial injuries to be exact. Bad for the team and plain humiliating if you're the ones trying to goon it up.

The Broadstreet Bullies days are long gone. Idiots.:laugh:

Craig Beurube is turning a lost year into lost generation. Teams take notice, stars on the dirtiest teams always get their fair share coming back. Look at E, Primaue, Gagne and co. How long will Giroux, Simmonds and co last under Beurube?
 
Emery got a star for gooning it up. Absolutely embarrassing. It doesn't matter that 3 stars don't mean anything. For all most people know it's the league giving a goon a public pat on the back.

Pure POS move by Schenn ripping Urbom's helmet off and then firing away. Lucky he didn't get TKO'd as well. Simmonds will end up like Downie one of these days. His luck will run out taking on guys way bigger and stronger. Latta should have tomahawked Emery in the back of the head. All this nonsense from the league about fighting and protecting players and the ref just stands there??
 
i wonder how this team would react if Emery tried to do this with Lundqvist...
 
One of the problems with the Flyers is that they are stuck in 1975. Not shocked they did what they did last night; especially since Berube is their head coach. A team usually takes on the personality of its coach. It set hockey back 35-40 years.

There are a clueless organization, and unless they change their philosophy, they'll never win anything. It all starts at the top from Ed Snider to Bob Clarke on down the chain.

Just my opinion.
 
I have no issue with fighting when it's called for, when the emotion of a game dictates a fight. That fight last night was garbage. I think Emery should miss a game or two but the Ref who just stood and watched a player take rabbit punches to the head.....That official should never see the ice again. The league should fire him today.
 
That might have been the most embarrassing game I've ever seen by an NHL team. On top of everything else, their best player thus far, and the guy they just traded for, get injured in the brawl. Well done. :shakehead
 
I don't think Philly reads needs anymore punishment than battling the Sabres for dead last in the league.

They're not in a rebuild either, which makes it even worse. Holmgren is going to have to make some big decisions this year about his club going forward. Ed Schneider is stuck in a mentality as well that needs to go away if his team is going to find any success in the near future.
