The Blue Jackets announcers are pretty big homers lol.. Every time a top player is io the ice they have to make sure we all know what they did in the game. Ok guys, you told us 10 times already, we get it..
 
This is one of those trades that has quite a few variables.

Variable for the Sabres: How hard did Moulson really ride Tavares to his successes?
Variable for the Isles: Will Vanek re-sign?
 
You guys realize the team that has Brandon "God Amongst Men on HFNYR" Dubisnky and Artem "You hypocrites bashed me when I was a Ranger, now you miss me" Anisimov on it currently has 1 more point than us... I sure hope so.

You also realize the guy we got in exchange for them outscored them both last year, and combined the three players we sent to CBJ had just two more total points. So really aside from living in the past and just constantly beating dead horses does it have to be brought up every 20th post in a thread?

Also, Nash isn't going to die from his concussion, he'll be back and everything will be fine. I know it's fun to get all gloom and doom, but honestly. RELAX.
 
Buffalo can flip Moulson at the deadline if they don't want to extend him or he tells them he has no interest in staying in Buffalo, just go into full rebuild.
 
Last 4 years Moulson and Vanek's production have been very similar with Vanek basically just better as a playmaker. Obviously wasn't playing with Tavares. Feels like they gave up a 1st/2nd for a minimal upgrade and a guy who likely wont resign with them.

Moulson 33/32/65 per 82 last 4 years
Vanek 32/40/72 per 82 last 4 years

Also true.

They might do that anyway. Could grab a couple of extra picks or a prospect for Moulson.

Send him back to the Islanders at the deadline for Reinhart and their first rounder in 2015 :laugh:
 
Isles don't give up much, but if he doesn't re-sign it might look foolhardy. Vanek doesn't make them a cup contender.

Hope they have a terrible season, and he doesn't re-sign.

I also hope they have a terrible season for more obvious reasons.
 
Gotta say though, Garth ****ed Darcy 5 ways from Sunday with this trade.

But if the Isles flop and Vanek goes byebye, they just lost their first two picks and JT's best buddy. That can't be good for the lockerroom.
 
I think I like this deal better for the Sabres. The Isles are gambling that Vanek can attain the chemistry with Taveras that Moulson did. The Sabres get good assets and a player they can move at the deadline easier than they could have Vanek, and get additional assets.

Agree. I don't think Vanek has been a real game changer for two or three years now. Moulson might not be much of a step down for the Sabres if he can get some chemistry going--the 1st and 2nd rounders pushes it to overkill. Moulson and a 2nd at most would be somewhat fair.
