Around the NHL: HOCKEY’S BACK BABY

I'd put big money on Detroit, Montreal, and Ottawa falling behind us as the season progresses. Ottawa has too many injuries, Montreal has the work ethic but lacks the talent, and Detroit's Power Play likely isn't going to stick around top-5 for the season.

Our stats aren't pretty (yet), but outside of the Philly game- I think the team has gone long stretches each game of being the better team.

Expecting a very chippy game on Saturday vs Toronto. With how much anger the media in Toronto is throwing at guys like Bertuzzi and Reeves, I'm fully expecting them to send a message, especially in their home arena, that they can bring that sort of game.

Dahlin is going to need to keep his wits about him and not take multiple penalties in retaliation when they try to run him and the rest of the D.

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I’m okay with taking retaliation penalties if the Leafs decide to run around and take shots at our players. It’s a regular season game so not a huge deal if we lose IMO, and we have a top 5 penalty kill.

More concerned that Buffalo has Philly tonight and then Toronto is on the back end of the back-to-back while the Leafs are home stewing after the usual outcome for them in Boston.

Dangle's rant about Bertuzzi from last night was pretty accurate. Also, Marchand's can opener on Liljegren was the sort of subtle scumbaggery that makes Brad so easy to dislike. He's the master, all others are but pale imitations.

Also, this particular play might have more impact on the Sabres post-season than just about any other thing in the East:

Also from last night's game -

The Rangers have been hot, but if Fox and Chytil are out, that's going to be a challenge to keep up their pace. The Metro could tighten up pretty fast.

What annoys me is that our players often retaliate against the goons instead of the stars. I mean Skinner cross checking some no name in the head cost us the playoffs last year. If you are going to do something stupid make sure you're not that stupid.

I thought he had the stick thing with Jake Guentzel?

Rough afternoon for the Coyotes - blew two leads and now Stecher takes a puck to the face and Crouse looks like he dislocated his left shoulder on a hit.

The Wild have had 93 shot attempts through regulation on the Rangers. Man do they miss Fox.

Also, everyone but Ottawa is now .500 or better in the Atlantic.
