$11 million AAV is hefty, but that's probably gonna be the going rate of a franchise, #1 defenseman moving forward and Dahlin fits that bill imo. It'll be much more palatable in a few years.

I'm guessing McDavid's gonna get like double that AAV when he's due for a new deal.

Dahlin sings a 8yr/88mil extension with the Sabres

I think that was the going rate to keep him in Buffalo.

Hellebuyck and Schiefele both got $8.5m X 7 to stay in Winnipeg, hefty contracts for two vets. I think I would rather have Hellebuyck on that contract rather than what the Pens signed Jarry for.

There was rumors they had reengaged with Helly after he saw there wasnt an appatite for other teams to sign him to big money. The Schiefele one surprised me. Good signings for both sides I saw. Neither one got 8 years and this keeps them competitive. Jets fans are saying the team has alot more depth and got rid of 2 problems in Wheeler and PLD. If you got rid of Helle and Schiefele you would have had to trade Ehlers and Connor and burn down the roster.

I’m honestly surprised they didn’t give him Karlsson’s contract tbh

Huh, Shane wright got an exemption to play in the ahl instead of getting sent back to juniors. Would be nice if it was the beginning of the end of 19 year olds way too good for the chl

CHL will never agree to that. Theyd lose a ton of money if that happened.

That applies to anyone who played in the CHL at age 15 (thus 4 years of CHL play) so they don't have to go back for their final year because that would be forcing them to play 1 extra year than a "typical" junior player has to play.

I conked out early last night as, in keeping with my theme of road trips this year, I left home feeling a-okay on Tuesday and rather less so now.

Seeing that Oilers/Nuck's scoreboard brightened the morning. Especially given the one tally the Oilers managed was... a powerplay.

They may go 81-1-0 the rest of the season, but I got a giggle on that.

The more you know!

When is the last time the Pens scored a goal with the goalie pulled? Seems like it's an automatic goal against whenever that happens.

Don't know the last time...

But... Last year, pens scored only 3, allowed 14 against while playing with an empty net 28 times

Scored 14, allowed 5 while playing against an empty net.... Which still feels pretty bad lol
