Twice as many players at or above 1PPG (Min 50% GP) in 21-22 as 20-21. Scoring in the entire league is inflated for whatever reason.

A lot of players that people wouldn't have expected to have such gaudy numbers are up there as well.

Yeah, it seems like a real odd year. It will be interesting to see if scoring falls back I line with recent trends next season.

they were among the top 3-5 teams in in xgf and cf. So even if the conversion regresses, whether it be league wide or just for the flames, they still on average out shoot and chance the oppsoiton handedly. This isn't anything new for Sutter coach teams.

Yeah, I wasn't commenting on the Flames in particular. Just an observation on the league as a whole. Honestly I'm mildly upset that the Jets weren't able to capitalize more on such an offensively skewed season.

The Flames under Sutter were a top 10 team in 20-21 despite the standings not reflecting it. It's a big part of the reason why I don't have any time for the suggestion that Lowry is in any way comparable to Sutter. You can also point to Sutter's past teams as well, they've all been spectacular in shot and chance generation.
When Sutter said he came out of retirement to coach the Flames because he's a fan I believe it.

Comparing d Lowry to Sutter is a huge disservice to sutters accomplishments imo.Anyway, idk if we have a collection fwd+d as good as the flames do. But ya also to note, Sutter is fully in tune with stats and analytics too

Sutter is exactly the kind of coach we need, i really hope Chevy can find one of his ilk. And if Chevy stays with what we have........

Rick Tocchet has a theory. He figures that with the various issues this season (covid cases, postponed games, etc.), there was less practice time and that defence (systems) requires a lot of practice. No practice, no defence, more goals in simple terms. He might be on to something.

Agreed, we should stay with the same team next season, just to be safe. Keep Huddy and Lowry too.

Ha, just kiddin.

I think there’s a reason he’s not coaching right now. Saw him on TNT a time or two and he doesn’t strike me as the smartest hockey guy in the room.

Some teams really had a lot of practice time like we did. So not sure it holds much water. There was a discussion on the main boards about all these kids coming up nowadays grew up watching post lockout hockey where offense was way up at first. Now that didn’t last but there’s also not a ton of high end elite goalies either.

Interesting that some teams can actually make decisions in a quick manor...

You would hope that if the Jets do decide to move on from their coaching staff or part of it, they aren't going to let them sit around for months without knowing while the Jets look for replacements. If Lowry etc. are gone... do the right thing and let them know Sunday night.
