Around the NHL 2025 playoff edition

i'll admit they did decent work with the logo given the name there isn't really much you could do to look serious imo. i like the two different uniforms for home and road i loved when pitt did that back in the day and would be cool for more teams to do it. the colors are ok im not a fan of black jerseys they are boring wish they went with like a dark blue or not sure is that dark blue and i'm just going blind? side note i just saw the other day was the last game for the whalers and i wonder why the teams haven't tried to recapture the color scheme that everyone pretty much agreed was fantasic.

double side note if yeti the cooler company really squashed the team from that name then they will have to do studies on it years from now on how big of a fail that is

Jersey/Logo is sharp IMO

The Wild's logo is ugly, this isn't despite having a similar "it's two things" concept. I like it more. It's just weird having your team name be a singular and not a plural noun. I like it overall though.

My main issue with the team is the color way. It’s just so boring and looks like an ECHL jersey. They should’ve went with old school Utah Jazz colors and a more designed mammoth like when the grizzlies were in Vancouver.

Think the concept will eventually be revisited and done better. This feels like draft 1 made everyone happy.

You could probably get an LLM, let alone an army of graphic designers, to execute the exact same idea better.

Sorry, guys. But. Poor logo. AHL level work. Lazy idea, lazy calculation. I like that they hide M in the logo even if they could do it more neat and elegant.

But Jim should like it, shape is looking like a fishing hook.
(or some kind of hand with curled thumb and forefinger of some dark bad mystical person)

I still like it more than Seattle and Vegas.

I honestly disliked all of their names. This feels like a 90s MLS team name. Kind of dumb and lazy tbh.

They already had a great team name and logo in the Utah Grizzlies if they figured out how to obtain the rights to it. It never should have been anything different imo.

I just can’t imagine wanting to be called Mammoth. And what’s with the singular noun? Teams were the “Yankees” or “Giants” or “Red Sox” not the NY Yankee or SF Giant or Boston Red Sock.

From so many angles I don’t like this and actually think it’s hilarious. “Hockey Club” was actually kind of functional and cool and very working class too, like Manchester FC or Real Madrid.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

.....f***ing dwight shrute job title as well

Dwight and Andy arguing about job titles and who reported to whom always reminds me of the early 90's Sharks.

After San Jose's inaugural season team owner Gordon Gund fired GM Jack Ferreira. Instead of naming a replacement, he decided to do a three person committee with head coach George Kingston, VP of hockey operations Dean Lombardi, and Director of Player Personnel Chuck Grillo. In particular Lombardi and Grillo seemed to disagree constantly. As with his future teams, Lombardi liked grit while Grillo preferred (European) skill.

That continued for a few seasons before Grillo got the axe in early 1996 and Lombardi got full autonomy. In particular Grillo steered the team to take Viktor Kozlov at the 1993 Draft and the room was split with others wanting Paul Kariya or Chris Pronger. In the moment, Kozlov scored 6 goals in his rookie season while Kariya potted 50 for a division rival.

"One good thing about this is there's no more 'Grillo's guys'," Lombardi said. "From now on, if there's anybody on this bus, it is because of Dean Lombardi. If a player is here, it's my call. We're going to do it like every other team where coaches coach and managers manage.

Though the Sox names are weird.

A player is a Yankee. Or a Red. Or a Cardinal.
But, you don't call a Boston player a "Red Sock". or a Chicago player a "White Sock".

Which is to say, weird team names have existed for quite a while.
