Around the NHL 2025 playoff edition

I’d love to see the way the contract is setup and how it looks if he retires after 3-4 years.

I’m guessing it’s all within the proper rules but it’s also front loaded and/signing bonus forward.

Tampa wants to squeeze the most out of these last few years so probably doesn’t need to worry about any recapture after that.

I totally get the players being a little irked at DeBoer.

I think he’s a really good veteran, win now coach. It still might make sense for Dallas to move onto a new voice and hope to catch a fresh spark. If Dallas does move on then DeBoer will be a hot commodity for teams that want to win.

wtf kind of contract is that
The kind that Lou gave to guys like Pierre Engvall on Long Island, AKA the kind of deals you give out when you realize that you're not going to have to deal with the consequences by the end. I think the cracks are starting to get noticeably bigger in Tampa Bay, and so far two of BriseBoise's assistants got out while they still had a good reputation.

One thing I know for sure: they're going to trade K'Andre Miller and it's going to blow up in their faces spectacularly. I always liked him as a prospect. The way Rags fans talk about him is not dissimilar to how we talked about Severson: very good if you can overlook the severe brain farts he has in his own end. I've also heard slights against his smarts, but I don't think you take up the defenseman position at age 14 and manage to succeed if you're stupid. It's a mystery as to why they never stapled him to Adam Fox, especially when you look at the underlying stats for when they were together.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Drury purges that team, and how much worse it's going to get.

Not a chance Pete survives this offseason. They also don't have a choice to stand pat. Their cap situation is very sticky.

I've told this story here before, but it's worth retelling.

I used to work with one of the developers of that glow puck (yes, he's in that group picture). We were at a diner once and his work on that project came up in conversation. Our waitress overheard us and made him write an apology for creating that technology on a napkin for her boyfriend.

I went to college where one of the administrators for student life had Flyers season tickets. Once, one of the glow pucks went into the stands and she caught it. Normally the league would descend upon fans with glow pucks like vultures on a corpse and ask for it back, but for some reason they never approached her. She still has it. It’s a normal puck but with white spots on it.

I always understood the logic behind it, and I never hated it as much as most fans, but it did look silly. Now with HD, it’s not necessary.
