Around the NHL 2025 playoff edition

I do think Lou could wind up back here very soon

But don't worry, he won't have any position of power or influence. It'll be some ''Celebratory'' role if it happens.

That's if Lou wants to come back here, that is. He may not.

For all I know he could take a position of more consequence with another team, like senior advisor of hockey ops or some kind of scouting director or something.
Lou will come back to be Marty’s senior advisor when he takes over ;)

i'll f***ing revolt if lou comes back as so much as a concession stand worker. keep that old bald nut away from our team. in fact, the rangers should sack drury and hire him as GM.

I don’t think it’s a big deal if he comes back in a role where he has absolutely zero influence or control over anything. There’s a lot of former GM’s who are in these roles around the league.

If he’s in any position of consequence or power with us I’d absolutely feel the same way as you.

He may not even wanna come back and be a peasant on the Devils though, whereas he may accept that role with any other team.

Drury might be a figurehead or just really tight with and loved by Dolan.

I was much more surprised Kevyn Adams wasn’t fired.

Maybe the two conference finals appearances in the three years before this helped him.

Now I wonder if his contract was set to expire in 2025 or if it was set to expire in a year or more from now. I’m assuming he was already under contract for next year and this contract begins in 2026 or potentially even later. You can extended coaches and GMs years before expiration. There’s no limits like there are with players.

We have legitimate high end young talent to try and build a cast around, they dont. Plus we have the inside track to signing a Norris Winning Dman in a couple years.

I much rather be us
We've got the core to win. Whether we have the GM to win very much remains to be seen.

It kind of feels like we just need somebody not connected to the Pens (no offense to Ray RIP) at this point.

Adam’s may still be fired. Apparently he is meeting with Pegula this week.

Drury is tight with Dolan and this was a shut up or waive or ntc message to the players. It’s also a double down by Dolan.

You know, even if we get swept I can take solace in the fact that it isn't so bad, our team didn't just give a multi year extension to the GM version of Dallas Eakins

Suggest making a thread for the trial for whoever wants to talk about it and so it doesn’t constantly pop up in threads like this.
Rather not, it’ll just give license for people to rehash the same arguments about due process and media bias and character purity tests among posters. It’s only popped up here so far which is the closest thing to a right thread for it…there’s probably a thread on the mainboard somewhere for it

I forsee those discussions happening very soon again and with greater regularity

I don’t have a problem with waiving Goodrow or trading Trouba in a vacuum. The way Drury did that, however, went over wrong with the players. The fact is that both were in the wrong. Drury shouldn’t have been so cutthroat but the players should have the leadership structure in place to move on from it. That’s why the Lightning are a better team.

If nothing else, it’s a bad look to sign him for multiple years so soon after the Strang revelations about Panarin. And it’s a bad move just because he’s Dolan’s guy.

Due process isn’t an argument

Yeah I just read that Mikey had a group chat going and invited the guys to the room. Yet there are players still playing I believe ? Amazing what “I didn’t know what was happening” how far that gets you

They aren’t going to say that they supported their friends but didn’t want to participate themselves. Where are the grownups in all this? How come nobody in charge is on trial for anything?
