Around the NHL 2024 25

Calgary beats Colorado on the road tonight in shootout, Minnesota loses in shootout to the Devils.

Flames now 6 behind Wild with 2 games in hand. Tiebreaker to the Wild.

Flames have Utah, S.J twice, Ana twice and a home game against the Wild in their next 7 games. Wild have to get through Rangers, Isles on the road, Stars at home before a potentially easy W against the Sharks. If the Flames can close the gap there's a chance that last meeting between them and the Wild is a battle for the final WC. Don't expect it but honestly Minnesota is crumbling and goaltending is an issue.

It would be nice if the Stars lost a point in their chase.

The Kraken were really good at shooting at the crest tonight I think they were 99%.
Dallas is 7-0-2 since losing to the Jets … they may never lose angain until they play the Jets.:D
This is insane Jets need to go 6-1-1 to clinch but if they beat the Stars in regulation time its 5-2-1.

Both Casey De Smith and Dan Vladar come up big tonight to keep their teams in the chase. Jets are going to need Comrie/Driedger to win a game.

Hellebuyck might face Kings, Golden Knights, Blues and Stars down the stretch.

Comrie did start the last game in Vegas, so maybe he gets that one if Arniel sees Utah as must win and wants to give Helly a rest.

I think Helle is gonna get the next 2 on the road with Comrie staying home, and from there they'll see how close he is to the NHL win record.

If he gets the 2 wins on the road he only would need 3 more to tie or 4 to take sole possession, and I think they would give him the opportunity to go for it.

f*** does Dallas have a buttery soft end to this season. They only have two playoff teams on their schedule. Hopefully there are enough spoilers in them.

In fairness they obviously tackled the tougher games earlier so this stuff all evens out. They certainly have mostly winnable games left on paper. Winnipeg might need to beat them in Dallas to hold on. Not like Winnipeg is choking its just the way the schedule lays out favors Dallas. That being said it’s the NHL and anyone can win on any night.

Another 12 years of Rogers, but hey they paid the NHL $7.7 B for that privilege
In CAD terms, it looks like a big increase: +$4.1B CAD inflation adjusted.
In USD terms, it looks more modest: +$1.0B USD inflation and exchange adjusted.

I thought Sportsnet was losing money (or breaking even at best) on the old deal. Well, at least everyone thinks they're doing a terrible job...

Rogers/Sportsnet need to divert some cash this way, and resurrect a sports radio station back in Winnipeg. Considering Rogers used to have the rights to AM 580 (maybe still do), they could use that to create The Fan 580. While the YouTube guys do an okay job, the city could use a real sports radio station again. Yes, CJOB owning the rights to both the Jets and Bombers may make it a tough go, but you have to start somewhere. And yes, maybe I'm old and still like terrestrial radio.
