Around the NHL 2024 25

One points doesn't help all that much for the Stars if the Jets can take 2 from the Kraken tonight
With the one point the Stars got the Jets magic number went down from 12 to 11 and an OTL
So any combo of Jets win Stars losses that total 11 and an OTL by either team clinches first for the Jets.
After seeing the Stars schedule … I can’t see them losing more than 3 or 4 games. Jets need to win at least 7 or 8 games.

What a joke watching TNT Stars and Avs game.
They are talking about the playoff matchup would be these two teams since they are 2nd & 3rd with the Wild only being a few points behind without Krilli but no mention of the Jets … I guess they don’t know where Winnipeg is lol.
Weird Avs have got 5 PPs into the 3rd already and Jets only got one in the last minute of the game.
Wow … Stars tie the game 2 goals in 20 seconds.
Even if the Stars win their 1 game in hand they are still 7 points behind us. 7 points isn't easy to make up .

That's because i took the overrated bastard in my hockey draft.
So everyone in T.O. Should blame you? Boys get your pitchforks!

Did the Jets got anything close to this kind of headline from Sportsnets? this year 😅

Win or lose the Leafs generate more clicks on a slow Tuesday morning than the Jets do all season likely. Just the nature of the beast for TSN and Sportsnet. This is always going to be the case unless Winnipeg and more likely Manitoba suddenly adds another 14 million rabid hockey fans. It's why I just subscribe to Jets bluesky starter pack and then you can tailor your feed to only show you Jets stuff and branch out to other stuff around the league you care about.

Year in year out both SN/TSN always set up the Leafs fans for failure with their over the top adulation of a team that plays well in the regular season but screw the pooch and the most important time of the year. Being critical of the Leafs on either platform is something neither platform wants in fear of losing eyeballs in one of the biggest markets in NA

Here are a couple of SN Jets recent headlines:
Jets pass measuring-stick against Stars with flying colours
Ehlers scores again as Jets pound Devils in Tanev's return

Here are some recent Leafs headlines:
Maple Leafs blow winnable game to dead-last Sharks
Familiar woes sink Maple Leafs in 'measuring-stick' meeting with Panthers

Someone at SN likes those measuring stick metaphors.

Leafs need to be a 7 inch team for the playoffs not three
Another microperformance by matthews
Teams looks limp in flaccid loss

Speaking of the Leafs:

Prices for 2025-26 season tickets have jumped by as much as 20% in some sections with the so-called cheap seats being hammered the most.

One section with the largest increase was near the top of the building, in the purple section, where two season tickets went from $8,522 this season to $10,396 for next year.

The team chalked the big raise on the seats in the nosebleeds as a “market correction.”

According to MLSE, the seats that have a 20% increase or higher were “determined to be historically underpriced as it relates to value of these tickets and market demand and this season’s increase in this area represents a market correction.”

With all due respect to the Avs and Stars, I actually believe that a series against the Kings is more risky. That is a team that can stiffle and frustrate, and the Jets have been in tough against them. Can they go far? I dont know about that. But I feel like they are a team most likely to upset a heavy-hitter team so I am hopeful it is a team like Vegas, Stars, or Avs.

When you own the damn team, it's obviously the team you try to market the most. Will be interesting to see how TSN which is the most Toronto centric market turns when Rogers takes over full control next year. Maybe they will turn to their #2, the Habs, the team they make documentaries about.

Jets are always going to be under the radar. I think it's a good position to be. Less pressure for sure.

I hear what you are saying. The Kings definitely are a pesky team and a tough out on any given night.

That said, I'd much rather play them over the Stars/Avs in a seven game series. The second playoff match-up in the Central side of things is going to be a war if it's Jets vs Avs/Stars. Very reminiscent of the 17-18 playoffs where the Jets played the Predators in the second round.

Regardless, the way the playoff bracket is shaping up, the Jets would only likely cross paths with the Kings in the Western Conference Final.

I'd definitely be fine with that.
