On things about these Leafs broadcast this year is you don't have to listen the constant talk about Mathews and 70 goals, sure he has missed games but he will be lucky if he hits 30 or more this year

I more worried about playing the Avs Cocaine Russian then the addition of Nelson
I know this is the prevailing wisdom, but I would enjoy the Avs having to be the wildcard crossover team. Let them have to go through LV and the Oilers. We will have to play one of Dallas or Avs in the 2nd round anyway, so let it be the Stars while the Avs have to fight for their life in the Pacific.

Personally I think the Stars are a better team, so that is who I expect. But if the Avs go to the Pacific then a Stars upset in the 1st clears the track a bit.

I would much rather face the stars after a long grind of a series against the avs then hope the wild pull off a huge upset in round 1

But in reality when is a tough first round a detriment to for the 2nd round? Usually teams are then in full battle mode. Having a cake walk 1st round is more likely historically to lead to a subpar 2nd round.

... you are the one who quoted me first after I said that I would rather have the avs/stars play each other... you are the one who brought up "Having a cake walk 1st round is more likely historically to lead to a subpar 2nd round." so please forgive me for thinking you were basing this off something you saw and could provide the data to support it...

all I simply asked if you had the data because I was curious if someone looked into the effects on long series vs short... idk why you couldn't just say it was just based on experience instead of telling me to do the research myself
2021 playoffs, Jets sweep Oilers first round, lose to Habs second round after they had a war with Toronto is one example

well we also lost scheifele after game 1 lol. idk I think if you go over every playoffs you can find 100's of examples for both sides
