I don't think the problem is low hockey IQ, I think it's a mental health thing...

It's great how it ended up working out for the Jets, but he'd probably still be here if he hadn't asked to be traded.
Maybe so but it's sad to see such a talented young man waste his talent by not realizing hard work is what is required along with talent. Nobody can tell me he gives his best every night. If you give it all you have you win respect of everyone. The dressing room problems arise from that.

TSN caught the mood in the habs recent visit to anaheim.

Piling on Laine today I see... Dach was awful too - Canadiens need someone better than NewHook on that line

The guy is 4 games in a slump - pretty sure this board has shown more patience with a player or two on this roster...

His body language is the worst when he's not producing shots. The good news is we know its always someone else's fault. Next stage is his Laineiac loyalists will start bitching about his usage and line mates on Montreal's forum pages. They will refuse allocate even an ounce of blame for Laine's funk to Laine.

I remember some of our fans thought it might be good to have him back. That would have been a really bad idea.

I was and I think it is still too early to label it anyway. I do agreed that things mostly point towards "bot much to nothing has changed overall" and If that ends up being the bottom line, than yes, it would surely have been a mistake.

I mean just based on our play alone this season you already know not trading for him was the right decision. But who would have thought we go Edmonton level powerplay %s? Lol nobody would have dreamed of that. The entire point of getting Laine back obviously was about upgrading our PP. If I'd known we'd have a 30%+ PP without him anyway, No way I would have even brought up the idea.

Hindsight and stuff...

I mean technically the advanced stats have been saying Ehlers on PP1 would change things... but no one thought to this level

Laine would just be another static trigger man imo - and we have our shooters in Scheif and Connor

Screw him if he doesn't want to play in Winnipeg, I hope he crashes and burns.

The Jets powerplay is on an incredible heater. It's much improved over last season, but still...it's gonna hit a dry spell at some point.

Maybe not, maybe we just needed a PP coach that knew how to take advantage of the talent we have. I say this because even the 2nd PP unit looks good and are scoring as well.

I wasn't piling on Laine i was stating a fact, we are a much better team after trading him then Dubois than if we still just had Laine.

id be wary if the Jets 5v5 scoring stunk. it's still pretty good. if the refs put away the whistles in the POs it definitely hurts the PP reliant teams.

It's both units going wild. Vilardi's shooting over 35%, Scheifele and Pionk are both at 30% - those 3 are all Top 15 in the league, and then there's Iafallo, Connor, Perfetti and Namestnikov all at 20%+.

Last year's 22nd ranked 18.8% powerplay is now the best powerplay of all time and all it took was a new assistant coach and putting Ehlers on the top unit?

They're still good - but more like Top 10 good, not GOAT good.

UHC with the Yeti logo is actually my favorite.

The Outlaws might be the best name, but that logo isn't my cup of tea.

I think everyone knows how I feel about naming a hockey team after a hairy, extinct elephant. And Mammoth singular...are they just one mammoth? Or should we be trading Stanley there so they can live up to their name?

HC is close to no name at all, and I don't mean calling them The No Names. It says we couldn't think of a name.

I've seen worse than a hairy extinct elephant. Doesn't suggest speed and skill though. Mammoth singular suggests big team, big deal, not necessarily made up of big players. Mammoths plural does suggest big players.

Since they couldn't have Yeti (I'll never understand the threat of confusion with a cooler manufacturer) and Wasatch just confused everybody, why not Sasquatch? People have heard of it and it is the NA version of Yeti, which is Asian.

Out of those 3, I would take Outlaws. Agree the logo is not much.

It's all subjective. I don't mind HC, but I don't think they'll settle on that...they lack the courage to be original/unoriginal!

Thing is though alot of their PP goals are coming from moving and passing the puck around so well that the other team and goalie are out of position. If we were fairly static and just blasting pucks at the net ya i could see what you are saying happen. It's February now and our PP is still playing really well, maybe the PP is as good as they are.
