Around the NHL 2024/25

Pretty sure the trip had at least some effect on that incident. Stone was leaning into a hit of some kind and the trip was enough to throw him off balance. Looks terrible but I doubt he intended what happened.

Also hope Heiskanen isn't too badly hurt.

He's been declining for a couple of years. Blues tried to move him but there were no takers. They are hoping someone grabs him now. I wouldn't touch him myself.
With his contract terminated, he’ll sign a cheap deal on a contender and will be an effective playoff addition if he lands on a team like Edmonton, Dallas, Washington or Colorado.

He’d be a Nino like addition for some team.

Hadn't seen that contract termination before. That makes a difference. Without that 4.5 mil contract for another year he might be worth a shot.

I assume that is by mutual agreement since no grounds for termination with cause have come out, AFAIK.

Yes, Saad. I read that they had been shopping him but got no interest. Now they are terminating him. With that contract removed, someone will probably sign him cheaply. If he doesn't work out for them they can always waive him. And the cheap contract will be prorated to < half a season. Minimal risk.

I am hoping Wild win, I like the idea of coming out of the Central with Dallas and Minnesota, Colorado crossing over would be great for our team. #1 seed in the West gets an easier matchup.

Wild with an injured team are going to have to battle to stay ahead of Colorado.

Cheering for the Leafs isn't easy.
Avs only 2 points behind Wild.
Why is everyone so worried about the Avs?
If you have to worry about a team your are not a contender.
I want the Jets to play the Avs first round because I know they will smoke them.:D

I just think they have the guys who can go to another level. Rather Jets play them for the Conference title, than trying to go through Denver early in the playoffs.

HC?
Mammoth?
Or….Wasatch?

I like wasatch. Unique name. Mammoth is a bit too….i dunno. Minor league.

HC is fine if bland. But Has a “professional” ring to it but then again, I’m used to FC in footie

Avs might be fine in second round after their first round adrenaline runs out of their superstars

They simply have too many game changes even without Ranta

I just remember what they did to a very good Jets team last year despite having georgiev in net….shudder 😆

Amazing Jets stats.
These are the stats we mainly look at back in the good old days :)

Nit picking already but why is Helly 3rd on the svpct and the Toronto Goalie is 2nd? 🤔

That’s what many people thought last year when the Jets swept the season series. Elite players find another level and are capable of dragging their teams to victory no matter how flawed their teams are.

Like many others have done with various topics, I was skeptical of what we were being told Wasatch meant. So with the vast knowledge base of the Internet at my disposal, I decided to do some "due diligence" and performed my own "in depth research" on the matter. I came up with the following fact which I know to be true because it sounded very much in line with my pre-conceived notions.

Millions recognize the majestic Wasatch Mountains towering over Salt Lake City, the host for the 2002 Winter Olympics. Yet, few are aware of the origin of name "Wasatch" or its real meaning.

The Wasatch Mountain Range got its name from the Paiute Indians, which lived near the mountains long before Mormon settlers arrived in the 19th Century. The Mormon pioneers adopted the Paiute word "Wasatch" as the name for the mountains. But what does Wasatch really mean? According to Utah Native-American expert LaVan Martineau, the word "Wasatch" means frozen penis!

On page 186 of Martineau's well-researched book on Utah Indian legends, lore and language he records:

"Wasatch -- the name comes from the Paiute and Ute Indian phrase pronounced Wuhu'Seai, meaning Frozen Penis. Archie Rogers of [the Shivwit Indian Band] tells the following story about the origin of this name: "The Utes told me what the word 'Wasatch' means. They said that one time many Indians lived there between Heber and Provo. One day the men were out hunting when a big blizzard came up and they lost one of the hunters. When they found him he was dead and his penis was frozen stiff. they therefore called the place Wuhu' Seai Frozen Penis.

Now you know.
