Get Miller for that price? Sure. But then dump Horvat? No.

But now, when hindsight kicks in, why was he available at that price? Why had NYR been so willing to trade him? And now he has to be moved from Vancouver because of team conflict. Maybe Pettersson is the problem, I can't know for certain, not being in that room. One of them needs to go and soon. I would keep Pettersson.
Why was he available at that price, is the same reason Kov was available for free than a 4th. Players often underrated

“He is struggling. He is caught in between. It seems like every time he is on the ice, something bad happens,” Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet...( re: Miller )

You know things aren't good when your coach has this to say about your play.

Miller was a highly rated prospect, drafted 15th OA. He had played 341 gms with NYR. In his last season there he played 63 gms and scored 40 pts. He scored 20+ G 3 consecutive seasons. He had demonstrated his ability. TBL kept him for 1 season in which he scored 47 pts, and then they moved him.

Not a Kovy comparison. There can be many factors affecting a team's decision to trade a player, cap issues for example. But TBL went on to win the SC the next 2 seasons after trading Miller. None of the pieces they got for him played for them those 2 years. So they were down a top 9 F but got better. Maybe not connected at all. Make of that what you will. Like I said earlier, just my suspicion. But I don't like the look of the record.

Miller seems like a "I'd crawl over my dead grandma to win a game and you should too or else you're a piece of shit" type of guy and Pettersson seems like a "I'm gonna go out and play the game and have a good time" type

I really wouldn't want either guy on my team, but having both of them in leadership positions on the same team would be a nightmare

Swedish GM, and the Sedins are around the team in some capacity I think Pettersson sticks around. Probably better to hedge your bets with the younger player here.

I feel like JT Miller is the right kind of fit for the Flyers and John Tortorella but I'd be interested to know if there is a lot of interest in him around the league. And he ultimately decides where he wants to play.
I don't think it will be in Vancouver much longer.

Canucks are wasting a good year from Quinn Hughes. After this one there's only 2 left for him before UFA status so that's a short window for their success. And that defense behind him might be the worst in the NHL.
As a fan of both teams I really hope Miller stays. I'm a Jets fan first, but I've tried for 10 years to support our team here in Vancouver but it's been so hard to actually care. Last year Miller made everyone care again, the whole time I've lived here no one gave a shit, he was the heartbeat of the team. He reminds me so much of Blake Wheeler when Wheeler was at his best. He wants to win in Vancouver and I'll take that every day over what Petterson brings to the table. Never should have got that contract, didn't deserve it. Vancouver has to get over this tie to the swedes. I think before this whole riff became public most fans considered JT the captain, during Christmas break I saw him out at a pub with Sherwood and Hronek and you could tell he was one of the boys. If he's traded I don't think I'd be able to watch them anymore which might not be a bad thing, trying to watch both teams is kinda exhausting

Hit the nail right on the head, haha. Especially with Miller, I feel like in the right group of guys that kinda attitude is how you win. Petterson just goes out there and plays the game definitely but I don't really think he's having a good time at all, at least I've never got that impression seems like he's just thinking about what he can spend his money on next

A couple of years ago they chose Miller over Bo Horvat, who wanted to be a lifetime Canuck. Now Miller can't co-exist with Pettersson. Miller seems to wear out his welcome everywhere he goes. Just suspicion on my part, but I wouldn't touch Miller. If I'm Van, I get him out of there as quickly as possible. Take the best offer that's on the table right now.
Personally I agree. Miller seems like the problem child from what I’ve seen throughout his career. Guy seems un stable. JMO though.

Miller is like a more intense wheeler
Didn’t work out well for us last time towards the end

Apparently Malkin's SC rings were found inside his home, so not stolen. Interesting
Second thoughts 🤣

Jets fans recognize that type of player as we had our own
