There are like, what, 8 guys having career years on the Caps right now? Reminds me of the Canucks last year.

Strome and Wilson basically doubling their career points/game averages.
PLD and Chychrun matching their career-best years.
Protas and McMichael both breaking out and putting up by far their best seasons so far.
Thompson, a career .912 goalie heading into the season putting up a .921.
And Ovechkin with the 2nd best goals per game rate of his career...at age 38.
Have to give Carbery full credit for pulling this team together - he's got total buy-in

That'll do it! Do you think it's sustainable?

Strome and Wilson, probably not sustainable. But other than that...PLD and Chychrun aren't having big outlier seasons. McMichael and Protas are maybe just taking the next step. Even a bad goalie can have a great season, and Thompson isn't a bad goalie by any means. Ovi's a freak. They can probably keep it going for the rest of the season.

Wow. Canucks lose again. 5-1 to LA.

Reading the Canucks forum and it seems like Miller has completely checked out. I’m thinking he gets moved instead of Peterssen. Crazy times in Vancouver.
Swedish GM, and the Sedins are around the team in some capacity I think Pettersson sticks around. Probably better to hedge your bets with the younger player here.

I feel like JT Miller is the right kind of fit for the Flyers and John Tortorella but I'd be interested to know if there is a lot of interest in him around the league. And he ultimately decides where he wants to play.
I don't think it will be in Vancouver much longer.

Canucks are wasting a good year from Quinn Hughes. After this one there's only 2 left for him before UFA status so that's a short window for their success. And that defense behind him might be the worst in the NHL.

Not that I care much since I despise the Canucks owner but this is tough for them that their top forward has checked out. They aren’t going anywhere without Miller driving the first line on their team. Hughes is “THE” super star but Miller is that 100 point, dominant, talent with edge type that they don’t win without.

29 points from Pederrsson so far this season is absolutely not enough considering he was almost 100 points last season as well.

Its the right move - which is why I hope they don't do it.

Petterson was unstoppable before this tiff - I can see him returning to form, though seems a bit mentally weak to me. I do love how hogf***er has dissapeared off the face of the earth, couldn't happen to a nicer swine fornicator.

I never confused JT MIller as a stoic, but this is ridiculous.

A couple of years ago they chose Miller over Bo Horvat, who wanted to be a lifetime Canuck. Now Miller can't co-exist with Pettersson. Miller seems to wear out his welcome everywhere he goes. Just suspicion on my part, but I wouldn't touch Miller. If I'm Van, I get him out of there as quickly as possible. Take the best offer that's on the table right now.

I'd still have made that move by Vancouver to bring in a guy who was playing in the bottom 6 and immediately becomes a core player. A 3rd and a 1st. I hope it just costs that for us to get our 2c.

Get Miller for that price? Sure. But then dump Horvat? No.

But now, when hindsight kicks in, why was he available at that price? Why had NYR been so willing to trade him? And now he has to be moved from Vancouver because of team conflict. Maybe Pettersson is the problem, I can't know for certain, not being in that room. One of them needs to go and soon. I would keep Pettersson.
