So if you are not a destination market you don't have a chance?
I really don't think those UFAs are a required part of it.

I think you need some solid veteran players to help bring the kids along. They need to still be fairly young when you start out if they are still going to be good enough when your young draftees begin to arrive. I think you can supplement those players with UFAs. Just not the big name guys who choose their destinations.
I don't think you need the UFAs. Rather, being a destination allows you to skip a few steps. Think about how the NYR made a big deal about how they were rebuilding, going as far as writing a letter to their fans, then suddenly they got Panarin as a UFA and they weren't rebuilding anymore.

In that case they also got Lafreniere and Kakko but they skipped the part where they suck for 3-5 years.

Have no idea what happened to Liljegren in TO but I guess Berube's didn't see a spot for him on there D.
I'd also heard Benning was a big name on the trade market, sounded like the Habs were in on him too. I'm surprised the Leafs also got the picks.

It's insane how many of those teams have jumped 40% or 50% in value over just one year.

And here I thought the price jumps for Manolo Blahnik were outrageous.

Tis sad as I had to look up what those were.

I still don't understand the big deal.

Tonight the Avs are icing a 3rd line consisting of Oliver Kylington, Parker Kelly, and Nikolai Kovalenko. If you have no idea who those guys are, that's just revealing a lack of hockey knowledge, as Kylington was a promising prospect some years back.

More specifically, a promising D-man prospect. Their 3rd line is a D-man, a 25 year old rookie, and a guy who once managed to score over 0.5 points per game in the AHL.

Wasn't sure where to post this. But this is a great video with analysis of the Jets play from a neutral youtuber:

It’s a pretty barren wasteland when it comes to good YouTube hockey channels, this one is the exception.

Need more channels like Hockey Psychology, fewer cringe garbage channels like “Steve Dangle”.
