refresh my memory for this out of context statement
We dont want to be fun, we want to be robots who play the system perfect and never lose again

Thats right, you cant be creative offensively and grow defensively. You are either the 80's Oilers or the Lemaire Wild

Thats cool Kirill's parents are there for the 1st time in 2 years. I hope he doesnt do anything too creative and get himself benched

The globetrotter comment was more about him being too flashy and not productive. Since his hat trick in December of that year until March when the comment was made, Kirill had just 4 goals and 11 points, while also being a -8. It's not like he didn't let him play through it, there was almost 40 games between. He could've benched him when his family was there, and been justified doing it, but he hoped maybe playing in front of his parents may spark him, but it didn't, so he sat him after they left.

The comment had nothing to do with what you were saying.

How is it out of context? He broke up the Russians stating they started playing "globetrotter" hockey when it was the only fun/positive thing we had. He would constantly reference a system is good if players execute it but at the end of the day he was a heavily defensive leaning system with a bunch of kids and took away their creativity. Not sure what spark there is to have there, his literal only ace he had was benchings. Also watching this similar group of players play so differently and exciting/positive while getting their comments about last year doesn't really make it feel out of context or wrong

Just like getting defensive when I question wether fired coaches look back at past teams, especially ones who get very different results with a very different system. Not just Vincent but it's a long list of coaches who experience the same thing. Personally I think if you don't do that you are pretty stubborn and holding back your own growth. Should be some give and take like oh, I like what they do it this situation, I could integrate that into my overall system.

The russian line had slipped and wasn't producing like it was earlier. He felt they were trying to be fancy. I really don't take exception to the comment.

I wasn't being defensive about the fired coaches comment. I am sure he looked back on his Columbus tenure and saw things he could have done better, and probably is staying away from that in his new job. But once the season starts, or maybe after evaluating what they did in their last oppotunity, I don't think any fired coach thinks about their last job. I may have interpretted what you said wrong, thinking he was still thinking about it now.

guys, we have a real nhl coach now, who right from the jump has this (depleted) roster playing better than his predecessor ever did.

i'm sure pascal vincent is a nice enough guy but we really don't have to defend him on here anymore.
