You're including defensive pairings in there.

I think the team in general has also rebounded pretty heavily since the start of the season. I think the ENP line was rocking an xGF% in the mid 30s there for a while.

They have been slowly getting their XGF back up. Now at 45% and are above 50 in all other metrics.

Season-wide regression shows the Jets above a 50% expected goal share. Considering where they started means that they've been playing a lot better than their start indicated. They also rocked a PDO of 107. I don't know what it is now, but they must be playing far closer to the record than below it.
Jets overall PDO is 107.3 and it's the high SH% on the powerplay driving a lot of that.

Powerplay SH% 27.54! SV% 100. PDO 127.5

5v5 PDO is 102.9. Mostly driven by SV% (.933).

NJ has now played almost 20 games. There was a lot of talk earlier about "seeing what Johnny Kovacevic's role looks like once Hamilton/Pesce/Hughes" are all healthy. Now they have been for a while, and his icetime is still strong, still averaging over 20 mins per game! Pretty much the same as Hamilton and Pesce, leaving Dillon and Luke Hughes in the dust!

So the Devils send down Nemec to give Kovacevic over 20 minutes of ice time, draft Zacha top 10 and have him bust, and never traded for Satan for shits and gigs, but there are no Czechoslovakian nationalists on here calling their team the bane of central Europe?

Why can't the Finns on here be that chill?

Just to old I think. I'm not really sure Trotz quite knows what he's doing. He made a big splash in FA on old players. Like you said in regards to ages but also the salary and terms left;

Forsberg 30 - Full NMC - $8.5m - 6 years of term left
Stamkos - 34 - Full NMC - $8m - 4 years of term left
Marchessault - 33 - 15 team NTC - $5.5m - 5 years of term left
O'Rielly - 33 - $4.5m - 3 years of term left
Nyquist - 35 - $3.18m - UFA this summer
Sissons - 30 - $2.85 - UFA this summer
Josi - 34 - $9m - Full NMC - 4 years of term left
Skjei - 30 - 15 team NTC - $7m - 7 years of term left
Schenn - 35 - $2.75m - 2 years of term left
Saros - 30 - $7.74m - Full NMC kicks in next year - 9 years of term left

That is a lot of older players with term he now has to deal with and already has 2 buyouts still on the books for another 4 seasons at least.

NHL Edge shows that they are one of the slowest teams in the league overall and are the worst team in the league defending off the rush as a result of how slow they are. They also clock in as one of the slowest teams in terms of overall shot speed and have a pretty bad shot heatmap meaning that not only do they throw mostly muffins at the net they aren't getting those shots off in high danger areas.

I think we are seeing the results of a team that is full of players who are in decline and are unlikely to be much better going forwards.
Or maybe they just need a better coach. Andrew Brunette was replaced by Paul Maurice. Look what happened there.

Last year at this time, the Oilers had an almost identical record as Nashville this year, replaced their coach and damn near won the Cup.

I'll tell ya, if Nashville ends up being the team that knocks the Jets out in the 1st round this year, I'm just going to laugh my ass off.

There's at least a couple of pages on the Kings forum in the "Around the League" thread bemoaning the inclusion of Vilardi in the PLD trade... warms my heart

Picked up after the beauty he scored yesterday

It would be funny but they'll need to go on one hell of a run to do that from where they are sitting.

The biggest difference is that Nashville has no one even close to Drai in talent level let alone McDavid to go on a historic level run to propel them into the playoffs.

I blame it on the lack of sunlight in the winter.

It's a moving story but I'm still pissed that Roenick gets in before Mogilny. The Hall will forever be tainted with the players getting in over him. All because he refuses to do their little media tour.

Kevin Lowe as a player is even worse. I mean what the actual f***? I got out to allot of games back then in Edmonton and Kevin was a solid stay at home D man but that’s all he was. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time. He was in no way shape or form worthy of being in the Hall of fame as a player.

Yeah that one always floors me too. Never won any awards, no 1st or 2nd team allstar mentions, didn't even have good counting stats. There is a long list of guys who honestly have no merit for being in and it basically comes down to a popularity contest in a lot of ways. Lowe was a prestigious card carrying member of the old boys club and there is nothing more to it then that, They keep tarnishing the hall with these guys were good but not great players.

Dick Duff and Bernie Federko are also honourable mentions to the "wtf are they doing in the HHOF?" category. I'm sure there are others.

What they need to do is add specific team era's into the Hall to give more of an overarching thing. Some of those Habs runs, Islanders, Oilers. Then you can honor the dynasties and not tarnish the Hall. Because you know the NHL would induct that entire 80s Oilers roster into the Hall if they could so they might as well do that.

To me HHOF should be reserved for the greats. Guys who at some point in time were either the best at their position for a year or two or close to it for a long period of time.

I'd disagree with you on Federko, I remember him being in the perennial top 20 scorers in the 80s, he and Joe Mullen were a reason for the Blues being somewhat competitive. He's also an over 1000 pt scorer who averaged pt. per game in regular season and playoffs. Most of those guys are in the Hall. Fleury is not, but he hardly had any playoff appearances or success, on bad Calgary teams as the 90s wore on. Guys like Steve Larmer and Brian Propp are close in that regards, but overlooked for their very stellar careers on non dynasty teams. Maybe the one that irks me the most is Bobby Smith, who sits 25th all time on the playoff scoring list, tied with Bossy, Howe and MacInnis, 4 time Stanley Cup finalist, twice with the Canadiens, twice with the North Stars. Cup winner in 1986.

I'm a little surprised that Patrik Elias has gone under the radar too, playing a key role to the Devils success. I'd have him ahead of Mogilny, though Mogilny had the much flashier start to his career.

Federko is really on the cusp for me and the type of player that I would probably have on the outside looking in. No personal awards, no finalist finishes, no team accomplishments, no allstar team nods, no international play, didn't impact the game in a major way. Granted he did have 10 consecutive seasons of 50+ assists so that is a major nod.

Just a good player but not what I would consider Hall of Fame material personally. Though I do realize that a lot of the Federko types do usually make it in. To me they are the Hall of Very Good types.

I'd likely have a much stricter HHOF personally. There are currently 299 players in the HHOF and I'd likely trim that down substantially. Individual hardware is a big one for me. followed by international play, then followed by success against peers, then rounded out by team accomplishments.
