This Vegas/Rangers game is fantastic. I’d imagine the boys are fired up with Sydney Sweeney being in the building at MSG. Checks out

Good precedence as a comp for us when we go to the table for Bahl.

Yeah. So, that's why we are going to get a good contract?

Yeah, I mean, he'll get a pay increase from the 1M he's making this year for sure.
I'd probably have him in the 3-3.5M range leading into UFA. Not sure Calgary will buy many years there. Maybe a 4x4 to buy a couple years of FA?

He's been good for us this year for sure, and him missing time has certainly been felt.

Honestly, I'd try to get a 5 year 4-4.5 mil AAV for him. This is his first season as a top 4 guy, but if he even is an average middle pairing guy, that'll be a steal in a couple years.

6 year 5.5 will age like the Andersson and Hanifin contracts. No brainer in my mind.

Bahl is a core piece for me. He’s the perfect compliment to the prospects in our system. 6’6, good skater, physical. Those don’t grow on trees.

I dunno if y’all are watching this 4 Nations biz, but Finland is looking TUFF so far vs. the U.S.

I won’t be surprised if they pull off the dub tonight.

Edit: whoops, just tuned into the 3rd and it looks like it’s coming apart for the Finns now lmao a valiant effort thru two though, and there is still 19 minutes left

How do you qualify for this tournament? We would be most likely eaten alive (Slovakia) but curious how you get there.
I think the NHL left it at 4 for a reason, didnt want games too close together nor more than 2 weeks off. Yourselves and the Czechs could of easily been there otherwise.

I am pretty sure the bigger reason why is that the NHL wanted to do this as their own tournament. They are not, in this case, permitting players to go to an IIHF or IOC tournament. They have created a tournament as an NHL event for NHL players. By using only NHL players, they avoided having to collaborate with any other organizations.

Slovakia has 8 skaters who have played in the NHL this season. Czechia has 28, but 8 of them are goalies, and a few of the skaters were just random call-ups that the NHL wouldn't have envisioned as NHLers in planning for this event. So really the only other country eligible for this tournament would have been Russia. No one else could field a roster. This is why when the NHL did that World Cup in 2016 they cobbled together two non-national teams just to let more players play.

True, I think though Czechia could of figured out a team, especially with an AHL call up or two. I think the big reason was time and the next was player availability. Otherwise I could of seen them pull another North American Young Guns stunt.
