Too bad the answer is in the room already or maybe they’d act like they exist in reality and look for ones outside of it

Yep, it's Ekholm 2.0. He's such an underrated 1st pairing guy because his counting stats aren't eyepopping. But his defensive stats in Pittsburgh have been just amazing up to this year (when everyone in Pittsburgh is struggling in their own zone) and he's ONLY TWENTY EIGHT.

FFS.
The tough part is that there is no way the Sabres are giving up their 2025 1st because it will be so high.

And I doubt Dubas wanted to wait on a 2026 1st. And perhaps a guy like Rosen or Ostlund didn't move the needle.

:dunno:

Maybe that will work in your part of the world.

Actually, this might not have worked either, since YouTube is slowing down a lot here, but I'm lucky, YouTube is still working fine for me, thanks for the help, it's interesting to hear from the GM, who I wanted to see as the GM in Buffalo at the time.

They treaded a top 13 protected pick. I’m sure Adams doesn’t know this…but he’s allowed to do that too. I’ve wanted them to do that for years in hopes that it forces them to compete knowing they don’t have a pick as reward. But picks are free and prospects are cheap. So it doesn’t happen.

I think Rosen and a little sweetener could move the needle. Especially since Dubas was looking at our prospects. This 1st is still under protection and it will probably be mid first at best scenario.

The Rangers pick is top 13 protected for this season. Why Buffalo couldn't do that would be a question for Adams - also that they would have to have an extension ready to go and I doubt they are going to look to add, even if a quality first pairing defensive defenseman who can let Dahlin go be Dahlin would be an excellent add. This draft ain't all that - moving next year's pick with someone like MP already in the mix is both a show of confidence to the team that they're done with not being in the playoffs AND helps them now. It's the extension though - how do they convince MP to sign unless it's a tick or more above market value? And we know that this team isn't going to spend money on someone from outside.

Yeah, this should be multiple games. But its the NHL so probably just a fine.

5 minute Match penalty for intent to injure.

EDIT: Since the video is restricted, MINN's Ryan Hartman slams Stutzle's head into the ice during a faceoff. Very obvious and also drew quite a bit of blood. Given a 5 minute Match penalty. I'm hoping there will be an in-person hearing and a suspension. He did a very similar thing during a faceoff last season but was only fined.

10 games. I'd have gone more considering his history but more than I expected the league to do.

There is next to no chance that the Penguins get the Sabres 2025 1st if it is top 13 protected. So, it's basically trading Buffalo's 2026 1st unprotected.

That might be unattractive to Adams and Dubas because Dubas may want a 2025 1st more, even if there is a smaller chance it ends up protected. And Adams may worry about them being bad again in 2025-26, so that is a high lottery pick that gets moved.

I doubt the Rangers are anticipating being this much of a turd in 2026 either.

This league. Hartman-10 games Nosek(sp)- we good.
Probably because the Noesen hit wasnt dirty, despite it looking very violent. Noesen and Tage were going for the puck and the same area of ice. Tage was leaning forward, Noesen caught his head in the bicep/shoulder area based on the angle he came in at. Unfortunate hit, and result, but in a game of inches and at the speed the game is played at, it really wasn't that bad. Noesen didn't do anything outside of a typical hockey play.

In a game where he's had a series of physical confrontations and been embarrassed by a goal against prior to one of them, I'm having a hard time thinking Noesen's play there wasn't dirty.

You're going to need to explain to me where you think the "dirty play" aspect of the hit was. He kept his arms tucked, with only movement from his elbow long after Tage was going to the ice. He attacked the puck at the same time as Tage. He didn't hit him from behind, or late.

Lanes and angles of hockey hits aren't static. They come from an assortment of ways, and sometimes things don't lineup so perfectly, especially when there are multiple moving parts changing angles, whether the body or the head.

It sucked to see the hit take place, and I'm hoping Tage didn't have any injury (long term or short term) take place. And Noesen absolutely was playing dirty in other moments of the game, and one can make the argument he's a dirty player (I would agree on that), but that doesn't necessarily MAKE the play in question dirty.

Wonder how this will effect Sabres games.

It is why it's reported that Pegula is in negotiations with NESN for TV rights.

1. I’m all for anything that provides an opportunity to shake up this antiquated tv model we’re still stuck in.

2. How does the business side of this work with the Sabres at present? Like, does MSG just pick up a broadcast that’s produced entirely by the Sabres organization? (I’m curious about whether this would be a chance to get a broadcast that isn’t this state media style where they say nothing critical ever)

The part where he's looking at Thompson as they come toward one another

not that he did so long after the impact. He did it as they come together. He's trying to hit Thompson and all he gets is head. It's dirty as f***.

Easy to dissect a play frame by frame, when the player isn't moving at that speed.

Going for the hit onto Thompson isn't dirty.
Executing the hit onto a player isn't dirty.
Playing the puck to an open guy isn't dirty.
The immediate collision by the player while the other continues to lean forward isn't dirty. It was a literally a bang-bang series of events.

That is what happened on the play and hit. Again angle, and place of contact is unfortunate. The play itself isn't dirty.

Chopping it up is in answer to your question of where. We clearly aren't going to agree on the outcome.
