The only thing I will say positive for the Flyers in that deal is Farabee has one good season (which got him his contract) and it's possible they came to a conclusion that he's the guy he's been this year and every other instead of the guy who got the contract.
Still without any retention I think its and overpay.Dallas is gunning to be a Cup contender. They did their roster additions early - that deal also includes a veteran RD in Ceci where the Stars a very thin due to having signed the reputation of Matt Dumba, third pairing Lyubushkin, and the very meh Nils Lundqvist. Vet 3C and vet RD for a late 1st in a meh draft year is getting work done. They touched none of their youth - lets not forget that Dallas has done an exceptional job with their drafting and they still have Bourque and Stankoven contributing and didn't touch any of their non-roster prospects like Bischel or Hemming or found-money Hryckowian.
I agree he had one good year and has been pedestrian. Still I think if what everyone is thinking goes worth and then ge goes off that.

I know they gave used other picks which affects things.
I would put that trade at more of a 2nd+5th without retention. I u understand they didnt have a 3nd and wanted them now.
In my book this was an overpayment
I think the perception of this draft is mediocre at best. A few bright spots in the top 8 and a bunch of ?s thereafter. I applaud coming to that conclusion early and playing on the primordial desire of gms to acquire firsts.Teams trying to win often pay for what they want. That they didn't touch any of their youth -- and they have a lot of very good young players even for a contender - losing a late first in this draft is not a loss.
Edit - didn't realize Lundqvist had season ending surgery so Ceci was a need when looking at a right side of Dumba, Lyubushkin and Christian Kyrou.
Why not?
The rumors were out there up until now that he isn't competitive enough and that's why Miller was targeting him. Nothing that happens between now and the end of the season should change what people think of EP40, IMO.
I think Adams could still trade for EP40 even if he appears to be a problem in Vancouver.
GMs think their team's culture can fix a lot of stuff with guys with red flags everywhere. That's why guys like EKane and Tony DeAngelo and others keep getting chances in the NHL.
Adams will probably ask Dahlin if he thinks EP40 would be a good fit and go from there. And given the reported interest, I bet Adams has had that conversation with his captain.
Heiskanen almost certainly needs surgery right?
Yeah, this should be multiple games. But its the NHL so probably just a fine.
5 minute Match penalty for intent to injure.
EDIT: Since the video is restricted, MINN's Ryan Hartman slams Stutzle's head into the ice during a faceoff. Very obvious and also drew quite a bit of blood. Given a 5 minute Match penalty. I'm hoping there will be an in-person hearing and a suspension. He did a very similar thing during a faceoff last season but was only fined.
He might, but Lunkqvist had season-ending shoulder surgery this past week so that may explain Ceci in the SJ-Dallas deal. Dumba, Lyubushkin and Christian Kyrou is a pretty weak right side.
And after that, he is standing by the bench all "what did I do"?
Looks like they find out tomorrow. If he's out for the season Dallas was/is basically in an impossible place.
That's flirting with the line where I'd be ok with legal ramifications.
It's one of the scummiest things I've seen in a long time. He's got at least one fine and one suspension each of the last two years, so with priors, a long suspension should be an easy decision to reach.
But the emotions that helped Miller elevate the Canucks as he evolved into one of the best power-forwards in the National Hockey League, almost unique as a centre, are the emotions that also carried him away to the New York Rangers in Friday night’s blockbuster trade.
“This was a conversation between myself and J.T. and his agent,” Allvin told reporters at the airport after the Canucks returned without Miller and others from their three-game road trip. “It started about two months ago with his health and the environment we had. During the time and during the discussions leading up to yesterday, I felt that he probably needed a fresh start in where he was in his life and in his age, and with his family, (and) that this was the best option for him and the Vancouver Canucks.
“I mean, J.T. Miller, the reason why he's good in the league is that he's super competitive, and he's walking the fine line at times. And I also think that he's been dealing with a lot of other things. I wouldn't just say it's about two players; it's about 23 men in a dressing room. You hold each other accountable. We're not running a country club here, we're running a professional hockey team, and the players demand a lot from themselves and each other. So it's going to be a competitive environment.”
Less than two months since ending a sudden 10-game leave of absence for mental health reasons, Miller was traded to the Rangers for third-line centre Filip Chytil, defence prospect Victor Mancini and a conditional first-round draft pick.

“Hopefully, this will galvanize and make our team better,” Allvin said. “It's definitely different. I do like the pieces we have added here. Marcus was a key piece for us. We've been looking since the summer and those type of defencemen are hard to get, and I felt with him, there wasn't a whole lot (else) available on the market.
“And obviously getting Chytil, Mancini and Drew O'Connor (are) big pieces for us — how we want to play and how we want to construct our roster. It was important to get younger players into the organization. Obviously, Marcus has the most experience of those players, but we feel that we needed to retool it.”
I love that they have UHC as the way to use the "not a Yeti" logo.
That's the one trade made this past week I was really unhappy about. Sabres desperately need a guy like him.MP looking at an extension already in Vancouver.
Canucks and Marcus Pettersson both expect a long-term extension soon: report
After just one game, it looks like the Vancouver Canucks have seen eno...canucksarmy.com
I actually think cost was fair and Canucks probably knew they were going to extend him. I'm not sure Adams was interested in M. Pettersson, especially since he said right-handed defensemen himself. Although it wouldn't be a problem to trade Byram and get a more defensive LD for the first pair to play with Rasmus. That's the one trade made this past week I was really unhappy about. Sabres desperately need a guy like him.
