What math? Trying to accurately calculate the difference in take home pay in different jurisdictions this way is nearly impossible with all the different variables...there's no way that players or their agents are figuring it out before signing contracts. At best, they are maybe making some guestimates based on some assumptions, but there's no concrete math going on there to make it a significantly bigger factor than anything else.

I think it would have ended up the same as Vitek. I always said at the time that Georgiev was a Vitek caliber goalie when everyone was talking him up in 22-23. His career year was just better than Vitek's career year, and he's played a couple more years in the league before Vitek entered the league. They're very much on par with one another and very similar. One good year as starters, a couple of okay years in sheltered roles and a couple of really bad years. My guess is Georgiev is probably dumped last year off to San Jose by us if we had him instead of Vitek. Unless management was higher on him than they were Vitek.
Wait a minute though, who was the former future Devils goalie who shut us out in 2020? I assumed that was supposed to be Vitek, but he has no shutouts against us in his career.
Although he is undefeated at 6-0-0 against us lol. No shutouts though.

Not sure who Novo is referencing for 2020 or what he's trying to say in that post.
Devils were shutout 3 times in the calendar year - mainly, because it was only from Jan-Mar because of Covid.
The goalies were Merzlikins, Binnington & Lehner.

I figured he was considering it from the 2020-2021 season which was played entirely in 2021 because of covid/late start. That’s when Vitek made his debut in the NHL. The Capitals had even signed Lundqvist and were gonna go into the season with Samsonov/Lundqvist after Holtby walked, but Lundqvist would wind up never playing there or anywhere again due to a heart condition.
I think he mistakenly thinks Vitek shut us out in 20-21, which he did not. Maybe Samsonov did shut us out that year (I don’t have hockey reference in front of me right now) and I’m sure there were 1 goal against games Vitek had vs us in the two years he played there.

Nah he never got any real run and they had Cory around at the time, Kinkaid beat him out for the backup job. I thought we'd originally offed him in the season where Blackwood and Bernier got hurt but it was before that, who was the goalie we binned off that got picked up right before they both got hurt lol
And...no wonder I thought that, he was actually that guy - I forgot he had two seperate stints here
He only really found success in the league after the second time we let him go.

But I think you may be talking about Jon Gillies in 2021-2022 after both Blackwood and Bernier got hurt,
Gillies was absolutely dreadful. Not even Benoit Allaire could make him adequate. And I'm pretty sure he came in for relief in one of the blowout wins over the Blue Jackets in 22-23 and we added a couple more goals on him. I think he was with the Jackets AHL team and got a call up. I forgot how he ended up there.
He wound up having even worse stats in the AHL the next year than he did in the NHL with us the year before. He didn't play anywhere last year, but I think he is playing in the ECHL this year.
Never mind, I think I'm just not reading your post well enough lol. I'm hot and cranky. Wedgewood did get plucked off waivers right before both Blackout and Bernier got hurt, which then caused the trade for Jon Gillies and cups of coffee for both Schmid and Daws. Daws had an extended stay and played more because he wasn't nearly quite as bad as Gillies. Ruff seemed like he forced him in there to save his job.

Watching the Ducks game to see how Trouba looks in a Ducks jersey and they mentioned that he had to be given an extra large jersey because his elbows wouldn’t fit in a large.

This is his first good season other than the first two in the NHL with the Devils.
He was a little better last year than he was for his last three years with the Devils though. I’d chalk that up to either just change of scenery or possibly upgrade in goalie coach.

Brunette isn't the right coach for Nashville, but it's not his fault. Trotz saddled him with an old roster and brought in three more guys on the wrong side of 30. It turns out that old guys aren't a good fit with an off-the-rush system he likes to employ.
He's still a dead man walking, of course, but I'm sure he'll get another chance with a roster that's more suited to his style.

I agree with that in general...but it's still not a good look when you're in a public spat with your entire roster (re: his comments about scratching everyone and Marsh's comments about him changing lines basically every shift). This is his first bit of adversity in his coaching career tbh cause he had an easy first job and a second job with a team that's always been around bubble quality at the very least for the last two decades, last year was not the challenge people made it out to be.

I clearly remember MacLean saying “I could have benched 10 guys! But you can’t” during one of the blowouts in his last couple of weeks. I’m pretty sure it was in that home game against Montreal where Hedberg gave up two goals in the first 90 seconds and he put Mike McKenna in for the rest of the game.
That was also the game where he was lip read possibly saying “they booed us all power play! They’re all f***in selfish!” To Larry Robinson after the end of one of the periods. Still can’t say whether he was calling the fans selfish or the players who were out on that power play.
That quote reminded me too much of that.
And if we’re talking a MacLean-esque quote then it would probably indicate the end is near.
And with that post being made at 7:24 EST last night that means it came even before their game started. And they had yet another pathetic loss, which they kept jumping out to one goal leads until the last two goals against.

The problem with Nashville is their centers had career years and they aren't replicating. Gustav Nyqvist had 75 points last year lol. He's never even put up 55.
O'Reilly had 69. Those guys are nowhere close this year.
Tommy Novak had 45 points playing 14 mins a game haha. He's on place for less than 20 this year.
Also McDonaugh was a rock last year and they definitely miss him.
