Friend To All Giraffes
Game was actually pretty exciting tbh.Definitely more exciting than watching a game between those two teams. Gotta keep the fans engaged somehow.

Would prefer Severson between him and Smith eleven times out of ten.My brother in law is a big Rangers fan and he is critical of K'Andre similarly to how NJ fans were often critical of Severson. Lots of great play and lots of frustrating mistakes.
Excuse to relay a story from a beer league teammate who had some friends on Calgary's AHL squad. Eddie Lack was traded to Calgary but quickly demoted to the AHL. When they came through San Diego for a game, my friend went to a bar to meet up with them. He said Lack was there and buying drinks (Lack was still getting his NHL paycheck) for everybody. A drunken Lack then started complaining about not getting a long enough leash with the Flames.
A couple weeks later, Lack would get traded to the Devils. He didn't play much for us, but he got thrown to the wolves against Tampa since were saving Keith Kinkaid for the more winnable half of the back-to-back in Carolina. It wasn't pretty but Lack stopped 48 of 51 and the Devils won. We'd make the playoffs but a single point, so that Lack game was huge.
Traded for a seventh and defender Prout if memeory serves? I remember after that win pairing that NJ won the trade.

Looks like Prout straight up. I wouldn't have remembered Prout on the Devils if not for this game used jersey that keeps ending up in my Sideline Swap feed.

Unfortunately I can't say the same. This HFC mystery puck I was so fortunate to purchase is a reminder. At least it was for a good cause.

I liked MurrayDuring the COVID season my brother and I did the cardboard cutout crowd thing with a photo of my Dad.
He can now treasure it, and the Ryan Murray auto on it, forever.
everyone at the draft is a very well regarded prospect their draft year. i've never heard them say dang wow i can't believe this guy got drafted!Hindsight is 20/20. Smith was very well regarded as a prospect in his draft year.
I wasn't specific enough. I should have said that Smith was ranked roughly where NJ got him if memory serves. He was lauded as a great selection coming off a season where he racked up points in the WHL that put him in some tip top company. This wasn't a Stillman pick or any sort of a reach.everyone at the draft is a very well regarded prospect their draft year. i've never heard them say dang wow i can't believe this guy got drafted!

I think Smith may have been a bit of too much too soon. I recall that there was some pundit talking about how when NJ called to tell him he'd been traded it was 1 pm and Smith was still sleeping. The implication was Smith was a party animal. Sure, there may have been a hatchet job involved, but we know he hung out with Jack at the time and my impression is Jack does not shy away from having a good time. Some folks can handle that some cannot.
Bob's final survey had Ty at #13, most of the public rankings had him somewhere in the 12-20 range. I forget which reporter mentioned it at the time, but allegedly Edmonton was planning to take Smith at #10 until Evan Bouchard unexpectedly dropped a few spots.
I think Ty Smith has a weird physical disorder that has made him physically weaker and less coordinated as he’s grown older. It’s very weird to see a guy look his physical best at 18, much more physically capable than he appeared at 23.

LOL they're not the Browns, more like the Dallas Cowboys - hyped to the moon even after a shitload of playoff losses and disappointing seasons.
