Around the NHL 2024-25 regular season Part II

As much as I hate the Rangers they have had a ton of success over the past like 15 years. Yeah they never won the cup but they made the finals once and the conference finals like four times in that timespan. Comparing them to the Browns, Jets, or Cowboys isn’t fair. They have more success than all of those teams combined. Yeah they don’t have a cup but they’ve been uncomfortably close a few times. Anyway. f*** them.

I think Ty Smith has a weird physical disorder that has made him physically weaker and less coordinated as he’s grown older. It’s very weird to see a guy look his physical best at 18, much more physically capable than he appeared at 23.
something like that or undiagnosed concussions that he kept playing through. smart move getting something for him when he still had value.

Ray Shero is dead? Last Devils GM Ray Shero? Seriously?

When I started reading that tweet I totally did not expect that to be the name they were announcing as having passed away.

I was completely shocked by seeing that name. In massive disbelief.

Not that parents and genetics mean everything, but his dad only lived to be just barely two years older than that. His mother (I’m assuming that was Ray’s mother and not Fred’s wife prior) lived to be 86 though.

Terrible, way too young.

Mostly liked his tenure here from where we were at. Criticism of the defense and some of the trades, totally valid, but he identified some key problems and turned them around, mainly skill and speed. Grateful for that.

Wasn't expecting to see the news of his passing. I thought it was news of his father passing but quickly realized it was Junior. Sad stuff man...

Got to meet him back in the day at one of the Devils Prospects game back in like 2016 or 2017. He was a really nice guy and he was nice enough to let us get a photo with him and talk a bit of hockey as well.

RIP Ray Shero

23 teams qualify for the postseason in the American Hockey League.

The playoff field will include the top six finishers in the Atlantic Division, the top five finishers each in the North and Central Divisions, and the top seven teams in the Pacific Division.

Home-ice advantage in all series will be granted to the team with more points in the regular-season standings.

The first round will be best-of-three series. Division semifinals and division finals will be best-of-five series; conference finals and the Calder Cup Finals are in a best-of-seven format.

Please move this if it’s in the wrong thread. This is in regards to the AHL. I’ve never noticed so many teams make it. The first round is a best of three. Are those all home games for the higher seed? I want to make sure cause I’m tempted to catch a Roadrunners game before their season is over. No more ASU games and I’m dying to watch some hockey in person.

Here is a crazy stat. Only 109 players in league history has scored 400 goals. Jeff Skinner is not far off and has done so under the radar.

Jeff Skinner still has not played one playoff game in his career. He has played 1,073 career games. Looks like that will change soon.
If they would sign Holloway it would be better for them.
