Around the NHL 2024-25 regular season Part II

Wow. Graphics of this logos are really bad. Why they cant hire really good designer who will calculate good design with actual idea and smartness. Damn its bad. Its a stock level logo with poor design, proportions and calculations, not a great coloring at all, weak and boring silhouette, no interesting deep in logos, no silhouette in silhouette, etc.

Too bad they didnt pick Blizzard. This is a more imaginative task that requires more imagery and an original solution. The idea of having two clubs in Utah with a combination of ZZ in the name is also good and ironic.

My thinking is that they could probably work out a deal with the thermos company to both use the Yeti name and it's obvious synergy to have Yeti make the items for the team. But my guess is that there are too many Yetis to have to track down to make deals with. Is there a Yeti that makes clothes? is there a Yeti that makes hats or lanyards or whatever other trinkets the team wants to sell?

People have speculated these may be AI generated, which tracks. Why spend money on human labor when you can just lazily punch in a prompt and have it spewed out?

if this is the route a billionaire owner went then that franchise is screwed over. heck as a society we are screwed over they couldn't pay someone what a thousand dollars to mock something up? btw i kinda agree with you thats what they did

The one with the Yeti looks thought out enough to be legit. The Mammoth looks decent. The Outlaws looks like they went "oh shit we forgot to put a logo on this, somebody throw one together quick."

I think they're gonna stick with Utah Hockey Club so they can still do Yeti logo/mascot stuff without calling it a Yeti.

If they are this level of stupid I dont know what to say.
Design is a free money. You can save a couple of thousands dollars and never sell your jersey. You can hire really good pro, give him more money(I believe its nothing for billionere to pay 2-10 thousands more when you should spend millions for buildings, salaries etc) and sell attractive and interesting jersey again and again. People are buying red wings hats all over the world just because logo is great.

Simple is often the best way to go. Look at the NY Yankees logo. Those hats sell all over the world to people who don’t even know what baseball is.

It may be looks funny but its exactly truth. There are tonns of people here who are wearing theirs hats. Like A LOT. And they absolutely dont give a f about baseball at all. And few people who care about here - mostly dont wear it. But we are talking about millions for tens. And when Im talking about millions I'm not exaggerating. A lot of people who dont know about NA sport are wearing RW, Briuns, Black Hawks and other hats just because logo is good. A lot of Sharks hats. You can meet more people with Sharks hats than with Caps. Or on the same level. Mostly they dont care about NA hockey. But good logo is the money.
This Utah's logos? Nope. Nothing special, nothing fancy, nothing spicy, nothing interesting, nothing colorful.

I've heard it said that a sports team's logo should be something that a kid can draw in their notebook during class (I don't know if kids still use notebooks, though).
