Damn, looks like Colorado forgot to hit the magic "with extension" button to triple Rantanen's value

So Chicago moves Hall and retains on Rantanen...and all they get is a 3rd?
Is a 6 million dollar taylor hall supposed to be a positive asset? He was net 0 when sent to Chi in the first place and since then he has gotten older, injured multiple times, and hasn't done that well?

If they simply retained 50% on hall at the deadline would they have gotten more than a 3rd? I doubt it.

Basically they, in a slightly more complicated way, traded a 50% retained hall (rants real money is 750k a year more so at about 40% of the year left it costs them an extra 150k in real money doing it this way)

I don't think the deal is fully out there yet, I'd be very surprised if that's all Chicago got.

Chicago got hosed for sure. Hall alone could probably fetch a second from a desperate bubble team at the deadline. To get only a third and have to eat salary on top of it is just ridiculous.
They would not have gotten a 2nd for hall at the deadline.

If they could have, they almost certainly would have. Clearly they have been shopping hall, clearly they knew what his price point was.

they didn't retain on hall. instead they retained on someone else, for a difference of about 150k
