With Carolina going for it, I wonder if this sparks a sense of urgency for Fitz to upgrade the team. Boston win aside the team had been struggling, Markstrom is now injured and the team still have a huge 3C hole and also could use another middle six winger.

They can't really afford to sit pat while other teams around them get better.

They're gonna have the same shitty ass goalies that have costed them playoff years in the past in the net again. Andersen will probably blow it again

I'm not trading for Miller after this lol, you're better off getting depth and hope Markstrom goalies them in R1 if they're our opponent

This is a silly take. Miller makes your team better. Just because a team made a trade doesn’t guarantee them a Stanley Cup. You still have to play the games.

If you can make a deal for him work you do it. Don’t give up on the season because the Canes made a trade.

Devils recipe doesn't change for beating Carolina, Markstrom is the x-factor. The Canes goalies are dogshit, they've sold them series in this entire core's lifespan. If the Devils get better in the bottom 6, like a lot better, who knows

Glad to see you didn't read the rest of the post. I said go get depth and make your bottom 6 better, the Devils already have the superstars up front. They don't need to match up there, they need to get collectively better as a forward core. We have the better goalie, forwards and defense are probably on par. Canes have the better coach

Has anybody confirmed that Necas is involved, or is that just our speculation that it would take that kind of value to swing this?

Really wondering how serious the Devils are about Miller

Seems like Vancouver had talks with Carolina and NYR and possibly NJD.

Deal with the Rangers fell apart over conditions.
Carolina wasn't willing to give up Necas for Miller.

What about the Devils?

A few legit reports Necas is going the other way.

Also Weekes just said Carolina is sending two roster players to Colorado. So Necas and ??

I’m not sure the players you are talking about for the bottom 6 will have as much impact at Miller will overall. Play him in the top 6 or drop in into the 3C role and that will improve the bottom 6. I’m not suggesting he’s the only move you make but adding a couple of bottom 6 guys does move the team forward in my opinion more then Miller on the roster.

I don’t think this changes anything for the Devils. Your plan is your plan. You still have to manage your roster and cap for now and the future. This does maybe take away a contender for Brock Nelson.

I don’t think this is a sure fire move for Carolina or makes them unbeatable.

It's gonna be funny when Igor/Markstrom goalie them out of the playoffs and Rantanen walks in the summer like Guentzel did last year.

Chicago retaining half of Mikko. All they get is their own third for that and Hall.

Kotkaniemi Also going to Colorado
