I still feel like there must to have been some off ice issues. Because otherwise I can’t see a reason for them to have paid to get rid of him. He’s not that expensive and he was solid for Detroit.

Agreed. People joke that Yzerman hates him doing the Gritty as a celly. I don't think it is something that silly, but there has to be something more than his on-ice play.

I honestly believe that hitting the griddy did him in. He was fired to the abyss with no cost spared.

Old hockey people don’t like individual celebration.

But maybe Yz just thought he was bad, or needed the icetime due to a different commitment and had no choice but to go to the market, get bent over a bit.

Just noticed the wild’s goal differential has flipped negative. Idk when, maybe their last game or maybe weeks ago.

I wouldn’t have guessed that our goal differential and the wild were only 3 goals apart. I feel we’ve had more blowouts against us this year than normal and it shouldn’t be a thing that we’re close to the wild right now given their start….

I watch goal differential like a hawk, which is why I was so disappointed in the Red Wings’ and Flyers’ finishes last season. I had one of them grabbing the WC2 spot because they had better goal differentials than the teams just ahead of them. Yet they failed and missed the playoffs.

The Wild better be careful with their best player and other good ones sidelined. Going 11/7 for a stretch might be best for them.

Pretty surreal to see the turnover in Boston. Just two years ago they set a record for the best regular season of all time, and now they only have 6 players remaining from that roster. 6 (!), from 2 years ago.

To put it in perspective, the Blues have 6 players remaining from the 2018-2019 team…

And there are now only 2 players left (Pastrnak and McAvoy) from that Bruins team we beat in the Cup.

Knowing when it’s time to rebuild and not waste assets is a skill.
