Kings are such an interesting team, if you told me they would be one of the 5 cup favorites 3 years ago this is not how I'd figure they'd gotten there.
They have one of the best head coaches in the game and the Sharks were always a cup favorite under him!:sarcasm:

Okay, I'm not sure if Berube really was a good coach (Mike Yeo is a complete joke though) but the team did get better in 2018-2019 when he took over. Binnington replacing Jake Allen as the starter that year really helped. But like Binnington that year, maybe Berube just really caught fire at the right time. Binnington never replicated that season again.

I find his firing kind of weird, unless it was done to blow things up. This Blues team is NOT good. I don't think they're getting much more out of that team from a better head coach. They're old, slow, too many bad contracts. Overpaid a lot of guys for that cup. Binnington is one of quite a few of them. They're almost like Washington West (or maybe that's Nashville? Or maybe they're both Washington West?) only they haven't won (FLUKED) as many games or fluked their way to as many wins, though they did win a decent amount to start the year when Binnington was hot. They were overachieving for a while there. Maybe just Central Division reasons though.

Flyers fans hated Berube when he was a head coach there, and no one could really imagine him being the head coach of a Stanley Cup winner just a few years later after his tenure ended there. And also coming in and the team going from last place in January (or whenever it was) to cup winner that same June.

Oof. Somebody somewhere was saying he’d be better than Jack this year.

He’ll be good, just early still.

He must be slumping hard recently.

With no snark at all, I thought I had heard earlier this season that he was playing really well. Like so good that he was making a case to be the best player from his draft. I guess it wasn't sustainable yet and he fell back a bit.

The assists dried up.

He’s been better on the power play than 5v5 but needs to get more pucks on nets.

LMAO. I was way higher than regular folks on Vilardi already, but these numbers are pretty bad

Good. f*** ‘um. Never understood the fascination with that overrated “douche canoe”. And f*** LA while we’re at it.

thanks @Guttersniped

That’s only Tuesdays, what about the rest of the week?

Looks like Sharangovich is still good in NHL.

He's also got a lot of tip goals this year. (Deflections). Don't remember him being that good of a tipper here but super happy he is successful so far over there. Him and Pickles tearing up the PK still.

It was probably the right move for both parties (him and NJD) to move on, because he would probably be more of steady top 6 minutes guy on their roster in short term... But if he continues to grow a lot more we may look back at that trade and wish we kept him in the long run. Let's see if he can hit 30 goals this season (or close to it)

Really happy for him. Good kid who deserves all of his success.

I’m happy for him too. And I think he is exactly what he was here - 20-25 goal middle six scorer and good pker. It’s role for NHL and if Devils will make everything right and will be good in the first/may be second round, I don’t think we should revisit this trade - there are no real space for Yegor and we have Alexander, Lenny and Arseniy in the line for his and bigger roles.

It was a good time to let him go…
Let him go, let him go.
Can't hold him back anymore
Let him go, let him go.
Now he flames the pk
and his wife flames calgary stores.

We've forgotten this because the Devils had so little talent for so long but sometimes you just have to move on from guys, they stall out in their current role.

I'm hoping Yegor does well, I always liked him. He started off really slowly, glad to see him getting hot. I suspect he's the same player he always was here.

That's a good point. It has been what seems like an eternity since we have had enough talent to be choosey about who stays.

Were the fans seriously booing him because of his “No comment, he isn’t my coach anymore” stuff about Berube? Thats what the main board thread seemed to imply.

Was Berube that big of a fan favorite over there that the fans would boo a player that didn’t even say anything bad about him, but just didn’t give a ringing endorsement of him? Really?

I had to have missed something else to this story? No?

To be fair the fans probably didn’t need much excuse to boo him considering he just signed an $8 plus million deal and has a grand total of five goals and eighteen points in 29 games. When you’re already being looked at as an underachiever and there are loud whispers of him being a locker room diva as well, you might not want to compound that and be dismissive of the coach who brought them their first and only Cup on the way out as well.

And when ST. LOUIS fans are booing you that’s particularly pointed, they aren’t exactly NY or Canadian fans.

How dare he say no comment! He should’ve read all those fans minds and said exactly what they wanted him to!

Sounded to me like he was trying to avoid controversy and well and behold in this world nowadays… that created controversy!

Lol and this lady is wrong, you can live in NY and still take a tunnel, the battery tunnel goes from the city to Brooklyn lol...

Yeah, “Bridge and Tunnel” refers to everyone who commutes to Manhattan. That’s the classic definition, “New York” = Manhattan. So no lady, not all Rangers fans live in New York.

And I wish there was no New Jersey Rags fans. This also ignores the Connecticut part of the Tri-State area but I can’t fault them for that really.

I love that this is “Hockey Fights”.

Oh yeah, Corporate Vest Guy was totally going to throw hands, except she was holding him back and he had no place to put his bag of overpriced souvenirs.
