Minnesota trading Scandella (to another team) and Tuch to VGK so they would take Haula so they can keep their top 4 defensemen together (followed up by a pretty underwhelming year from Brodin) is pretty horrible in hindsight

I know this won't mean much to you good folks on the other side of the pond. However team Great Britain have just won the gold medal in group 1A of the world championships. This is despite them only gaining promotion from group 1B last year. This means that next year in Slovakia we shall be pitting ourselves against USA, Canada, Russia and all the other top ranked nations. Not bad for a team ranked 26 in the world and for a country that has only 12 professional teams and in which only about 25% of the players are eligible to play for the country.
