That San Jose-Vegas score, yikes. How do yo get beaten that badly, it's not like Vegas didn't have a great season and surprised San Jose or San Jose never faced them before. Fleury's GAA is minuscule.

Pens are just deep. It's not just the Big Three, but when the games count, many of their secondary and support players step up big time.

I'm looking forward to tonight's Winnipeg vs Nashville game.
I'm expecting this to be the best series of the Playoffs.
Hopefully it doesn't disappoint..

If you're a wrestling fan or familiar with old school WWF, this Jets/Preds has potential to be the Savage/Steamboat of this year's playoffs; it's not the matchup that talked everyone into the building, but it's going to have a very high pace and tremendous amount of substance.

Their B players become A- players when they get around one of the big 3. So they can spread they love or have a super line depending what they need at any moment

Holtby lost this game for Caps, the same way he lost series last two seasons.

Should be a lesson to those moaning Lundqvist salary. Compare it to Holtby’s who’s in the NHL’s upper echelon of goaltenders and think if the difference worth it?

Pens and Caps equate to Andre the Giant and Big John Studd

Literally everyone was saying “lol Vegas is gonna be awful”

You can only make this determination with hindsight

Absolutely NO ONE knew it would be like this

Also, Bettman didn’t force Florida to trade two first line players for a fourth, Minnesota to trade Haula and Tuch to protect Brodin, Boston to protect Kevan Miller over Colin Miller

You get the point

This is all about how incompetent most GMs are, Bettman has nothing to do with this
Also that team tries harder than any I’ve ever seen. It’s crazy.

Meanwhile, Gorton keeps Fast and turns Raanta into ADA and Grabner into Rykov and a 2nd, doesn’t expose Nash and then kills that trade, too.

Yep. Gorton is one of the GMs who came out of the expansion draft looking good.

In hindsight, it looks even better.
All the teams that made panic moves at the expansion draft look dumb, outside of Winnipeg. Most teams should learn their lesson when seattle joins

I bet we can get Oscar back for a 6th round pick at this point.

Honestly I don't see a reason not to do that. Overpaid, but not by much. Only 1 year on his contract. If he does well then he is a good insurance policy for the youngins. If not, then he is off the books in a year and we only spent a late draft pick. Good buy low candidate

I'd probably not give up more than a 4th for him though. If that doesn't do it then so be it

I'm happy to see Vegas doing as well as they have. It's been nice to see them get off to this kind of a start, get buy-in from the fans early on, and push past some of those stereotypes that people had about the community prior to them landing a sports team.

So many people who swore they knew the area when they didn't know their ******* from a hole in the ground.

Absolutely. I have a buddy from there who moved back in his late 20s. Went to stay with him once (quite a while back now), and it's a city all it's own with a large population and culture – though a unique one to be sure, because though most people don't go to the Strip for gambling (except when friends come to visit), it does play a large role due to 1) the fact that the casinos employ so many, 2) so much of the shopping/dining/non-gambling entertainment is located there, and 3) its mere presence can make getting from point A to point B a PIA. I'm glad they've got their own team now.

That said, they need to lose so that the Boston pick is as high as possible. :)

The Wild were pretty screwed, really. There was no way they were coming out of that looking good. Maybe could have talked Vegas down to Haula and a pick instead of Tuch, but Vegas had them over a barrel with Dumba being exposed.

I picked Sharks with my head, not with my heart. It remains to be seen if my head is in the right place, but I love the way VGK plays. It's not not like I just noticed them last night, I'm aware of all the machinations that George McPhee and crew went through to assemble a bunch of guys with talent and character. They play the way I like to see teams play.
My interest is selfish, in that I want to be entertained. VGK does that but not if they encounter a dead fish team like the Sharks were last night. That was a case of being blown out of the water, or blown off the ice may be more apt. Hopefully it turns into a great series.
It almost looks like Jets - Golden Knights would be a Clash of the Titans, western version. I want Jets in the SCF.

Kucherov should have been a Hart Finalist over Kopitar. At least McDavid wasn't a finalist though

There's a reason for that. He isn't that good. I was surprised Vegas picked him over Grabner and Fast then and I still am now.

But it isn't the worst idea I've head, considering he is likely a better option at 4C than anyone else we have.
