I missed the game. What happened?
Wysh expanded on the quote and Backstrom said that it was just general frustration from losing.

So, the initial tweet is 100% clickbait.

But..in a broader sense...I can agree with the initial quote w/o context.

Nothing wrong with what Backstrom did. Guy has been in this league a longtime and there's a lot of pressure and expectations on him and his team every year. He's probably sick of hearing about "can't get passed the second round" and sick of seeing Crosby and Malkin celebrate. It's like when a group of friends goes out and only the one guy keeps getting the girls #s. At some point frustration will come into play.

Laine finally scored last night. Good stuff, hope it gets him going. I don't think Roenick was fair to bash him. This is his first dance and he's already had some team success. Even Crosby and Lundqvist were wrecked in their first dances.

A few weeks ago I rmemeber seeing an infographic about how Winnipeg built their team through nothing but trades and the draft and everyone was fawning about how great they are run and how they did it the right way and blah blah blah...sorta hit me today that maybe the reason for them building their team the way they did is a lot simpler...its because nobody actually wants to play for the jets because of the city. It's cold...like insanely cold. If I could play for any mhm franchise...as good as they are and as much talent as they have I woudlnt even remotely consider playing there. Who wants to live in a tundra. Your family sure as he'll won't love it.

That was sort of my question as well, did they build that way on purpose or out of need. However several players they traded for and drafted have re-signed there, so it's not like no players want to play there.

However even without knowing the reasoning as to why they built they way they did, the results sort of speak for themselves.

It is possible to build a young, very good, up and coming team by mostly forgoing the unrestricted free agent import market. And to boot they have plenty of cap space moving forward, so they can likely afford to keep that core together for several runs.

Winnipeg is a rare city where patience is acceptable. The fanbase was just happy to have them back in the league on 2011, and they sold out the building all of those years in a row, so it was pretty much a five year grace period. Remember Chevy Chevyldayoff started with basically nothing. It was post-ATL Hossa and Kovalchuk. He rebuilt from scratch and the only players really left from that team are Byfuglien/Enstrom/Wheeler/Byfuglien/Perrault.

Not sure what you are trying to convey.

That NY has a market that has no patience, or that they would not sell out?

Or that the Rangers would be in a better position to rebuild because they already have more they could sell to facilitate a rebuild than what the Jets did?

That they built that way on purpose. They had time to slowly build that program. I'm not only saying New York but I don't know how that would fly in most other NHL cities not named Vegas, AZ, or Carolina.

Prust was on Twitter defending Wilson, and then this happened. lol. clean check. lol.

I don't know if there's a player I liked so much as a Ranger that I can't stand now more than Prust. He's such a doofus. And how can he wear a Make Hockey Violent Again shirt? I'm all for physicality and not opposed to fighting but has this guy thought about what may happen to his brain in 10-15 years? How many fights did he have in his career going back to juniors?
