When you spend 18 years putting the team together, you get it right eventually. 18 years of sucking should make you sick. When you get that many picks over and over and over, you're bound to hit on multiple at once.

That's true, and it's not the way to run a franchise (be garbage for over 20 years and then finally be a contender) but since they moved to Winnipeg they have hit on every single one of their 1st rounders which is pretty nuts.

WPG/NSH has been the best hockey I've seen since WSH/NYR in 2012.

Two teams laying it all out there.

WPG/NSH has been like a Steamboat/Savage or Steamboat/Flair in wrestling terms so far. This has the chance to be one of the best series of the decade and has an incredible storyline.

Maybe I'm in the minority here but that 2012 playoff run was little to no fun. The Ottawa series got really ugly after Game 1, and the Washington series wasn't fun and basically sludge hockey. It was one Joel Ward penalty/Brad Richards miracle goal away from being a complete disaster. I'm proud of them for making it to the ECF, but it feels like they had to with their regular season as opposed to 2014 which was just a fun ride.

Left his feet, followed through into the head and while I won't try to say it was a definite headshot, it was close and a player like that doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt. He doesn't need to be suspended, but there's no way that's not a penalty. He also committed a tripping penalty on the GWG.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills with all this "left his feet" talk. I don't see his feet off the ice until after contact is made.

They are arguably the two best teams in the west, if not the two best teams in the league. And they're playing in the 2nd round.

I mean, it's great that we get to see them battle, but we were robbed of a potentially historically good conference final.

Right but it still looks like he jumps into it.
Looks like a pretty normal big hit to me in terms of his feet. I can't tell enough to say whether the principle point of contact was the head or not, it's just not clear from the angles I've seen. That's the only real issue in question imo.

Welcome to the 1982-1993 NHL Playoff format and one reason that heavily contributed to the first Jets leaving town :(

Its funny that half those guys aren't even eligible for next year and one of the people that is still eligible is Dahlin. This suspension literally means nothing

They suspended Dahlin for the U18, which he didn't play in. Eriksson-Ek is eligible for next year, and also the coaches.

I suspect the suspension for the Canadian player at the Olympics who took off her medal is coming soon? Or will that not be coming because Canada's allowed to get away with this and others aren't? This is the governing body that suspended Olegs Znarok for only one game for threatening to kill Rikard Gronborg, but suspends Monten and his staff for 3+ because they didn't stop these players from taking off their medals. Corrupt and embarrassing.

Nothing beats NHL playoff hockey. NOTHING.

NFL? zzzzzzzzzz
NBA? zzzzzzzz
MLB? LOL ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I agree!! The hockey has been so great. I don't know if it really IS as great as we think or is it because our Rangers were so awful this year that the games so far are so much better than what we've seen all year from our team. Whatever it is, it's enjoyable, more enjoyable than I remember in a long time.

I always love playoff hockey regardless who is playing. IMO, most games start getting a lot more exciting right after the trade deadline. It builds right into the epicness of the playoffs.

I'd put money on it being the primary cause for the franchise's failure.

It's ridiculous that the NHL tries to manufacture rivalries at the expense of the playoff's integrity.

Hockey is a very rough sport and the men that play it are tough SOBs; almost every series is gonna be hate-filled.

Yeah the Jets had to play Gretzky or Loob and the Flames. Every. Year. And this wasn't like today where in 2-3 years you'd have half a new team with ELCs. This was in the days when players were indentured servants to clubs until they were in their 30s and rebuilding took a good 3-5 years. So the Jets would get better, but no matter how good they were, they just couldn't beat the firepower of the Oilers or Flames. If they played under that late 70s-1981 format, good chance they go to at least the CF or the Stanley Cup semis as they were known in those days at least once. Rangers under that format went to the SCF and CF 2x in three years.

I don't know if corrupt is the right word--(I'd opt for hypocritical) but embarrassing certainly fits.
