I think Drury is invested in the NYC area since he's from nearby Connecticut and partly owns some local pizza chain there. I also doubt he'd leave the Rangers since it's the team he grew up rooting for. I think he's next-in-line to be Rangers GM and he's not going to leave the org to become a GM elsewhere

Drury has been openly turning down GM opportunities when teams inquired for a few years now, so it's becoming clear it's Rangers GM or bust for him

NHL players are lucky.

They don't have to deal with this stuff:

COVID-19 Safety Policy | Webster Ice Arena

  1. Skaters are asked to come home-dressed with all of their equipment installed at home. The only equipment that should be installed at the rink are-- skates, helmet, gloves and neck guards. Locker rooms will not be opened or available but benches and chairs will be socially distanced for putting on skates.
  2. Skaters are asked to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before scheduled ice time. Skaters will also be asked to exit the building no more than 15 minutes after their ice time has ended.
This is what my almost 17yo goalie will have to deal with on Sunday...

Oh ya, other places are stricter, in general I’m gonna be in favor of greater safety precautions- I’m just angered that the NHL has clearly screwed something up and in the aftermath they.. don’t really acknowledge their error, but instead make changes for players. All that just makes me question if these measures will be effective- because if they can’t handle cancelling a game when a team is clearly sick I have trouble believing they’ve figured out more complex concerns.

Hope your kid’s season goes well though! Fond memories of that rink.

I don't see how you make game days safer without impacting some players rituals through restricting how early they can get to the rink.

The Caps players refusing to follow the rules shows that this isn't just an issue where the league is at fault. Yes, they should have cancelled at least the second NJ-BUF game. But, a lot of this is on the players, as well.

And having some flexibility with regards to gameday routines is to be expected when trying to keep people healthy.

The players are not thrilled with the idea of limiting how early they can arrive to the rink on gameday.

I saw that. I have zero sympathy for the players. The league is a clown show but these guys are getting paid a full years salary for a partial years worth of work.

Millions have lost their jobs, lots of businesses have gone under and people have had their lives turned upside down by the pandemic. I don’t really care if players can’t get to games earlier to do their super special tape job that brings them luck.

According to the email I got from the Bill Grays iceplex, they wanted to do some ridiculous shit like have refs whistle down plays along the boards if there were scrum-esque clusters of skaters and not have face offs at all during the game.

I’ve been off the ice for over a year now due to school, but given the state of things I’m in no rush to get back. I don’t begrudge people for wanting to be safe, but it seems like too much hassle to be fun.

Vegas, returning from 10-day quarantine, is just boat-racing LA. They are absolutely flying. I assume when the Sabres return from 10-day quarantine, they will be slower and more disorganized than before.

Cal Petersen in net, if anyone wants to see how he's doing.

I saw that in the fall. I’m not sure if that is what they are doing now or not.

My son’s midget game was pretty normal outside of the coaches and refs wearing masks and no postgame handshake line.

They did the blue line stick salute thing like they did at the World Jrs.
