I hope that their defense and goaltending don't hold up and they miss the playoffs, just hate that spoiled franchise.
You took the words right out of my mouth. Hopefully their coach goes through a sophomore jinx and the team inexplicably struggles. The still have Nurse and Ceci to crap the bed for them.

They have won 5 Stanley cups, had the best player in the game for years in Gretzky , then shit the bed on a bunch of 1st overall picks until they lucked into the next greatest player of all time in McDavid . Nope i don't want them to win another Cup ever, thank-you Maurice and the Panthers .

Would those NYC area teams even take Trouba?

I don’t think either New York team needs him even with retention. Dobson and Pulock are the top 4 RHD for the Isles, then Jersey just moved Marino out to make room for Pesce so that would be a no to Jacob there.

I think it might come down to how much the Rangers are willing to retain. Like Nurse, Jacob has some utility still it’s just that they are both grossly overpaid. New York Rangers have a really solid top 4 without JT so like the Schmidt scenario in Winnipeg it’s really about cap/asset managment.

But but but………..those big cheap shots, oh I mean hitz

Dude is hiding behind his wife’s situation again to justify his actions. Jacob nobody gives a shit if you have to be long distance for one hockey season as your wife does her last year in residency. Is this clown for real.

The contract was a joke from day 1

Playing hardball with James Dolan.
He has a 5 month old baby and a wife trying to get through the last 6 months of a residency. I wouldn't move either.

I'm sure I've posted worse based on their gif content (judging by the mods reactions to some of them)

I can honestly see Philadelphia as a good landing spot. Close enough to New York and fits the type of play style they like.

I just think even at $4m the Devils or Islanders have any need for him.

I assume you mean don't have. I won't argue that point. Maybe they do. Maybe they don't. There could be way more involved. I'm sure I could conjure up a hypothetical 3 or 4 way arrangement that would make it work out. But fantasy trades almost never happen.

I only claim that there are potential landing sites that could meet his needs.

It's wild how often this applies to big UFA signings:

Movement goes with the job unless you negotiate otherwise. Jacob is not special, it sucks for all the guys with families.
It doesn't suck for him because he signed a contract where he can veto a move and has an agent that is absolutely cut throat. All they had to do was sit down and go through the 15 teams that could either afford him or need D and put them on their list

I agree. I don't see the big fuss, that is why NTC/NMC are for.

I still maintain that we won that trade simply because we didn't have to give that douche any more money.

I'm familiar with the geography of the area, I'm just speaking more about realistic landing spots.

When you lose players with reasonable contracts (Dillon/Monahan/Taffoli) you aren't going to exactly have a lot in cap room to spend.

I was thinking today if free agency would be different if the province charged players 0 provincial sales tax on their contracts if players having to give away the least amount in the NHL to taxes would actually entice some to come here.

Yeah, I don't know how realistic they are. Might depend on how badly NYR want to move Trouba. I'm surprised by some of the stuff I have heard about how bad he was in NY last year. If NYR are willing to retain heavily and not expect too much back something might be possible. Or not.

Not upset about other GM’s throwing money around like drunken sailors.
Many of those contracts are gonna age as well as the tattoo you got in Tijuana
