Why?For the first time ever I am actually hoping the Leafs win a series. But either way is ok.
We really did almost have them didn't we?
Jesus christ.
Yep. One bounce the Sens way and it's a 7 game series. Would have liked their chances in that G7.
And that's what ultimately sucks for Toronto, they could have gotten a huge package for him last year. Now he walks for nothing. The only way he's staying is if the Leafs win this series. And pull off some bullshit cap magic.
Otherwise this is a great time to cash in somewhere else that doesn't have a hard ceiling on playoff success.
Outside of the PK, the Panthers looked worse in game 1 against the Leafs than we did. Bennett was just a POS and injured Stolarz.Or at least a bit of luck in OT.
Clearly rattled in the first game because of inexperience, which sucks but I understand. No more freebies like that.
Leafs and Rantanen had an agreed extension and Canes agreed to trade Rantanen if the Leafs traded Marner, which they wanted to, but Marner blocked the trade. And that's what ultimately sucks for Toronto, they could have gotten a huge package for him last year. Now he walks for nothing.

This is worse than when Heatley and Spezza blocked tradesLeafs and Rantanen had an agreed extension and Canes agreed to trade Rantanen if the Leafs traded Marner, which they wanted to, but Marner blocked the trade.
The last two games, no. But they scored 4 goals in game 3, Stolarz would have won that one and the Leafs would have lead 3-0.Still think that shot to the chin had more to do with it. They aren't losing because of goaltending anyway.
Well, Bobrovsky's goaltending maybe.

System, star power, etc. Plus, many Finns and Swedes prefer to play in climates similar to home. Now it is true that Dallas is a warm climate like Carolina, but Dallas is a bigger city, has no state income tax, and again the star power aspect. Rantanen agreed to extend with Toronto, Edmonton, and Dallas. No idea why Rantanen would refuse to sign in Carolina but agree to sign in Toronto.
Here is what a moderator from the Leafs boards had to say a few minutes ago:
"This team is such a bunch of losers, won't even bump Bob in a do or die moment. Ridly Greig alone has more competitive sense than this team."
I feel like if I was Marner and I did this, I wouldn’t completely no show in the playoffs, but alas.Leafs and Rantanen had an agreed extension and Canes agreed to trade Rantanen if the Leafs traded Marner, which they wanted to, but Marner blocked the trade.
