Around the NHL — Episode XLXVII

How a team gets glazed so hard when they can't cleanly beat the second worst team in the NHL when it matters most is beyond me

Amazing that this could happen. Not knowing that Nazar scored when he did changes the whole complexion of the shootout.

They should probably scrap the whole thing and give the Habs a re-do.

I can't believe you actually searched thru post history to see if and how I might have voted on a hab player. A little obsessive don't you think?

lol what a great assumption! I didn't look at your post history at all. I visited the polls section for the first time in a while yesterday, opened a few polls, stumbled on that one and l was curious to see who would be so biased to vote for that ridiculous option and your JD1 name was listed first lmao

Here's start of the season top 50 lists from both sportsnet and tsn. Suzuki is 47 on one list. Not on the other list.

Sportsnet Insiders rank the NHL’s top 50 players: 10-1
Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon and Auston Matthews top TSN's Top 50 NHL Player list | TSN

Yes he's had a good year. But is it really a clear bias when TSN doesn't even have him on their list? Oh I know, I know, you'll bookmark the post and be back here in September when he moves up a bit.

ok so on top of everything, you can't read? The title of that poll is "Asset Value - where does Nick Suzuki rank in the NHL?"

It has nothing to do with how Sportsnet and TSN ranked him BEFORE the season... I mean do I really have to answer this kind of argument?

I'm not bookmarking anything, you're completely off the rails lmao

Suzuki is rightfully getting a lot of accolades around the NHL that you like it or not, you can choose to stay in denial if you want. Reminds me of these Leafs homers who look down on Tim Stutzle. I personally can eat crow and recognize that I have underrated him in the past.

Size doesn't matter to you. It's probably less important in beer league but it matters in the nhl and it matters when they're playing for keeps. Hutson's lack of size will follow him around his whole career and he'll be a polarizing player until he wins. Which he may not.

Sigh... There's plenty of smaller NHL players who do really well in this league, we're in 2025 by the way. It is a team sport and the roster as a whole is what matters. He's being paired with a guy who is 6'3 and pretty tough. Crazy coming from a fan of a team who drafted Erik Karlsson.

They have some good wingers. But that doesn't get you very far in the nhl.

Suzuki has the 9th most points among Centers since last season. Michael Hage is a pretty good prospect. Beck is an excellent 3rd line C prospect with a high floor much like Greig was. Dach and Newhook were tried but good thing it didn't work. Their GM is 10 times smarter than our ex GM was so you can expect him to look for a solution at #2 C, they have a lot of good picks and prospects so they have assets to find a solution.

At the end of the day, you're entitled to your views. But you're on a Sens board and you've been pumping the Habs for years. You should expect a little push back. Or at least start your posts with "Habs fan coming in peace"

🤣

lol just adding on the ridiculousness, not really surprising though, poor little homer heart hurt by facts. Try to find these "pumping posts" that date more than a year for fun, I'm ready to pay for each one. And even now, I 'm not really "pumping" the Habs at all, I am answering posts on the subject and recognize their talent like I am doing for plenty of other posts talking about other teams in the "around the NHL" thread but right now it seems that the Habs is the hot subject. I guess I am a fan of every team except the Sens derp derp lol

Seriously, I see this "trolling" as maximum 12 y/o mentally, c'est tout à ton honneur

I still don't see much of a chance for Columbus. They need to win two games in regulation while Habs have to lose in regulation against a Carolina team that will be resting the core. I'd give it like a 10% chance of happening at most.

Carolina is still a much better team.

Their main goal in that game is to not get hurt.

We just saw a horrible Hawks team with nothing to play for overcome the desperate Habs in Montreal with their super god hero legend player.

I think even a slightly handicapped Carolina team has a real good chance of victory.

Honestly I think Columbus is likely the one to f*** this up

That team is coached by Rod Brindamour.

I’m pretty sure it’ll be a “let’s play a playoff style game tonight” type situation.

Canes have failed in playoffs I think they’ll be focused and they normally have a hard working/forechecking team. It’ll be a tough matchup for Montreal. They can definitely win but I don’t think it’ll be an easy game.

I get why a fanbase would be upset in their shoes with playoffs on the line, but I also don't get the logic of a redo in this situation. Shootouts are static. There is no reasonable argument in the first three rounds because the shooters are already chosen and the shot placement doesn't change based on the result of the previous shot.

The reason the game restarts normally is because there is for lack of a better term a butterfly effect based on where the puck would start, who would be put on the ice, etc.

The only reasonable case I could see is if this happened in round 4, and then you could possibly argue as a coach that you may have chosen a different player had you known it was sudden death and the game was on the line.

Demisov is doing great for his 1st game. But it's only one game but talent is obvious there. Stu is more skilled and the better player for me. So if Demidov and Hutson are the most skilled player on habs Stutzle and Sanderson are superior player for me . Add to that Tkachuk >>>Slafovsky. Batherson is probably on par with Suzuki or caufield. So where we lack is that 5 -6th guy as I think they have better talent there .
Sorry batherson. Caufield and Suzuki?
